Default Writing - Is there a quicker way?

Hi,
I am wondering if there is a quicker way to write many articles for my blogs, directory articles etc? Writing is very time consuming and at times a bit tedious process.
Regards.

Instead of writing many, focus on writing a few really good ones. Google and your visitors will reward you.

same question here...most of the time I just hate it and at times I love it.

I don't plan to outsource it either, maybe when I'm rich, only then

You can try Dragon Naturally Speaking software. I think that is the best way to get the writing work done without writing.

Sit back and relax, while you take advantage of this freelance writer.
Special Price:$10 per article (normally $25). PM Me for details.

You can get dragon naturally speaking. only thing you will need is a microphone of course. At the beginning the software won't understand you that good. After a few articles it should get more precise.

Default Re: Writing - Is there a quicker way?

Seven quick tips that have helped me enjoy my writing more and enabled me to write quicker and better.

1). Voice recognition software like Dragon Naturally Speaking - I love this software. It can take a while to learn your voice, how you speak and transcribe it correctly but when it does the results are excellent.

2). Transcription Services - Although these can be expensive - recording yourself, speaking fast and then having it transcribed by someone else can save you lots of time. A cheaper alternative is to record yourself speaking and then transcribe it yourself. Some great free software for doing just this is called audacity. Here's the link: Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder

3). Do a typing course to improve your speed - I fondly remember a certain Mavis Beacon Typing Course available for PCs that showed you how to type faster and then measures how fast you actually type so that way you can see your progress and sustain motivation.

4). Learn and research your niches thoroughly so you become an expert and are able to crank out the content quickly and easily.

5). When are you more inclined to be productive? First thing in the morning, mid-day or in the evening. Find your peak time(s) and make sure you are writing during that time. Lose any possible distractions like mobile phones, multiple browser windows etc. and write in bursts without stopping for about an hour, don't worry about correcting or editing your work you can do that later, just write. The more you do this the quicker you'll write and the longer your 'bursts of writing' will be.

7). Find your writing personality or your inner voice. Take confidence in the way you express yourself and your opinions and let that shine through in your writing. Don't try and emulate another writer's style of writing, when you do write just be yourself then you'll discover the content will flow more naturally and you WILL write a lot quicker.

Hope this helps.

Garry.

P.S. This was written in about 2 minutes using Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 with one minute's editing.

Really!

I paid $97 for my copy and after using it for only a couple of hours I felt like I should've worn a balaclava when I purchased it.

For $97 it's a steal. $27 is just outright lunacy!!!

I couldn't live without Dragon NaturallySpeaking. The real key, for me, was to use a quality microphone. I use the Andrea ANC700 with an Andrea USB Soundpod (soundpod from eBay). I also have an xTag wireless lapel microphone that I use on my desktop full time.

I do well over 100 WPM with very few errors. Not only is it quick, I can sit back in my chair while I am writing and my wrists no longer ache all of the time.

I use Google voice every once in a while, mostly when I am in the car. It works pretty well, you need to read over it carefully and make some changes but it makes it easier for me to knock out a few articles when otherwise I wouldn't be able too.

It might be free but i feel that Dragon Naturally Speaking is much more responsive and intelligent in order to recognize what you are saying.

My order of preference for writing is this :

DNS
Typing
Visa

Although , I type better and faster . Dns makes the job a bit less boring.

Outsource your articles is the fastest way, but you need to spend some money for that. So ensure that you can earn back the money that you spent for outsourcing. I'm doing this for my new blog, I spent about $350 to outsource 100 articles.

I agree with Kid Killer. Try outsourcing. You can check out at getafreelancer.com or odesk.com and hire writers. But you need money of course to pay them.. =)

I write most of my own articles for various sites. Most writers that I have hired have just had a 'cold' impersonal voice that just doesn't translate to the reader. So, take the time and write a few good pieces...it gets easier the more you do it.
I can now generate a decent press release in less than 10 minutes. A great one in 30, but who has that time?

Outsource can be the way to go, but you need to get good writers.

I would go for less articles, but high quality ones. You can get the traffic you need with 10-20 well distributed articles. Transform your articles into video, podcasts, PowerPoint presentations, press releases, etc. And distribute them. You will be better off that writing dozens of "regular articles" for sure

Outsourcing your writing is ok providing you have the money to do it.

KidKiller previously mentioned he paid $350 for 100 articles - that's a good price and more than enough content you'll ever need for one website.

However I question the quality of these articles, for that kind of price they'll probably need a bit of tweaking and editing?

Kevin Riley and Alex Williams both made a great point in this thread in regard to writing a few articles and ensuring they are quality articles. In my opinion that is a key point. Why pay for or even write a ton of articles with unengaging, boring and repetitive content?

Give me 10 unique articles with quality and helpful content than say 50 articles that have been hastily put together and invariably are poorly conceived rewrites of each other.

Writing articles can be fun and the more you write the quicker you'll write too.

Whether you are selling your own digital products on clickbank, writing a ton of articles for an article marketing campaign or posting content on your blogs, unless you are providing quality and helpful content then all the killer sales copy, targeted traffic you gain with your SEO / backlinking campaigns and not to mention the elongated late nights of 'eyeball overload' will all be totally wasted.

Give me quality rather than quantity any day of the week.

Garry.

Go to odesk and outsource your writing. Some of the workers their can make you 2-3 articles in an hour. If you are lucky you can actually get a cheap writer for just $2 an hour and some of them are really good. One way to get a cheap but quality writers is to hire someone that has no ratings yet. The providers there are willing to work there for a small amount of money provided that you give them a good rating. The reason for this is because if they get plenty of good ratings they can actually bid for a higher price. Ask for a sample of her writing then hire him/her if you are happy with it. This way you could focus on more important task like researching for a new profitable niche.

Getting rid of perfectionism is another way to speed up your writing.

Someone once said this about internet marketing: "It's amazing how much money you can make without being perfect."

I'm not saying don't edit your material or fix typos, but if you find yourself agonizing over simple word or punctuation choices, that can slow you down.

I've also found this helpful: I give myself a set time to write something and make myself stick to it. In other words, a deadline.

That might seem like obvious advice, but I find that that the time to write something is expandable or shrinkable to whatever your own expectations are.

DNS 10 Preferred does this. You have to do a separate training for the recorder, but it works very well.

Outsourcing is the best way for you to be helped in the process since these people who have been hired for example to write articles is part of their training and expertise and there'll be no time wasted - provided that you also have to pay attention on keeping track of their work so you still have the "touch" on these articles even in its approach to the audience.

I think it depends majorly on the purpose of the writing.

I believe in delivering both quality and at the same time
have high quantity.

Talking about outsourcing.

Who says outsourcing is not okay for quality stuffs?

It depends on the people who write for you.
Personally, I do not get writers from all these freelance
sites.

The people who write for me are college undergraduates
and that is because I have access to them anyway.

Using dragon speaking is still going to consume a lot
of your time because you still have to know what you
want to say, say it and then work on editing.

I like to only spend my time writing very compulsory
stuffs like the mail to my list or my sales copies.

The others are outsourced.

And funny enough, I didn't learn to outsource
early enough but when I got the idea and I
started, it has been worth it...really good.

Well, my favorite way of creating a new article is to take a quality (or semi-quality) PLR source and "Re-Tool" it into something new and dramatic!

As several very smart people have mentioned here on the Warrior Forum, "Everything Has Already Been Done!" Assuming that's true, we might as well take good PLR and put our own voice on it, ya know?

Of course, the real trick to using PLR is to re-tool it ...
  • Without having to spend more time than just writing it from scratch
  • Making sure that the continuity of the article remains intact.
  • Making sure that it doesn't read like it was 'spun.'
Which brings me to the subject of "Article-Spinning" -- Just say NO! Spun articles read like garbage and certainly aren't going to impress any prospects with your message!

Like most people, the way you speak and the way you write is different.

Whilst Dragon Naturally Speaking has been available for many years and keeps getting better and better, I would recommend investing some time in typing software or typing lessons.

I bought one for my children called typing tournament and whilst it is aimed at younger children it is very effective for learning touch typing.

If you can type faster than Dragon can understand you, which is likely if you can get some reasonable speed, then you can output more faster, which is what you are after.

So far as outsourcing, I prefer to build a brand with my personality as part of building ME as brand for online differentiation. Outsourcing gives your brand someone else's voice, opinion and personality.

Your most important and powerful asset is you and your ability to build you as a brand so why male your blog or articles in a strangers voice?

After 3 years, an international move, MBA study and 3 children over 6 to care for, I have decided to exit the internet marketing business.

Hi

A note on Dragon Naturally Speaking -

I've had to use DNS extensively in the past and the number of errors can be frustrating and distracting. My advice to you, if you are going to use it - is to spend some time training it. Just "using it" doesn't increase the accuracy, or should I say, doesn't increase accuracy well.

There are numerous training sessions included in the software. Start at the easy ones and do the others as soon as you can - either all at once or one per day, etc. - until you get to the advanced ones. By the time you've completed a couple advanced training sessions, DNS is starting to recognize your voice accurately. Before that, it's hit and miss and believe me, you're going to want to throw the thing out the window. But training it is the solution.

As far as what to write and making writing easier - that can be tricky.

For me, I found that the more I write, the easier it gets. It's like a water pump. You pump the handle and you pump the handle and nothing comes out. But if you keep it up, the water starts to flow easily and next thing you know, you've got a flood.

Many times, the problem is finding things to write about. You have to find what works best for you, but if you have a topic or a way to find a topic, that's your first step. Then, have numerous resources at hand which means owning lots of books, paying for subscriptions, etc.

Browse your resource materials for ideas related to the topic. Find as many different articles or sources as possible and read everyone's ideas. Research as deeply as you feel you need. Then after letting it gel, turn around and give your take on it.

This method works well (finding a topic, researching, then writing) because it helps bridge gaps you might have that would cause writer's block. It also can be a confidence booster because you're fresh with the latest thoughts on the subject and usually while you're reading someone else's ideas, you will get ideas about what to say yourself. The reading gives you fuel for writing, in a way.

Then let it flow. Just start putting things down and don't worry about how it sounds or looks. Just get things out of your head, or force them out of your head.

Sometimes when I get stuck, I like to go back to the beginning and start editing to make it sound good. That will usually spawn a new thought to add or replace in the copy. I work my way down the page like that and before I know it, I've got something written.

The more I do this, the easier it gets.

Hope this helps someone else!

The very first reply--by Kevin Riley--gives the best answer.

If it's time consuming for you, better to have some outsourced and still do a bit of writing yourself. It's always good to write every now and then until ideas just come flying out of your head and on to your blogs. You won't notice it but you'll be doing more and more each time. The best writer you'll always have is you.

The best and easiest way is to outsource it. Hire someone that can write articles or content for you also submit the articles to article directories. Along with that you can also assign other tasks to make the salary worth it.

Gary's 4th, 5th and 6th points are great if you can do all the writing yourself and if you have all the time to write without even bothering of managing earning opportunities other than written content.

Alternatively, you CAN outsource your writing to an expert with a valuable full-time wage. There are lots of great writers from the Philippines who I believe can write in American tone with flawless grammar but of course, it takes some time finding for the right one. Few of my recommended steps for this is to first, find a freelance website or a proven outsourcing firm for this, secondly, contacting these top candidates, thirdly, shortlisting them and evaluating from their "test-runs".

Absolutely, you should aim for the ones that could get back to you in a minute so you'll see if they're really eager to work for you and get the work done. As for your reference, Outsource to Freelancers, IT Companies, Programmers, Web Designers from India, Russia, USA, and more and Best Jobs Philippines :: Philippine job search, job bank, employment and recruitment are 2 of these great websites that have helped my outsourcing needs. That in my opinion, will save you lots of time where you could plan more, continue your hobbies and expect more results.

I hope this helps!

If you have ideas but you don't like the writing part of it why not record your thoughts, have a transcriptionist/writer transcribe them and make them into articles for you. You can also just supply the keywords and/or titles, negotiate rewrites for the ezines, and have a less formal tone for your blog posts.

If you get, let's say 10 good articles ($75.00 w/o transcription or $100 w/transcription), each with one rewrite you now have 20 articles to submit to the article directories.

Now take those same 10 articles and have blog posts created ($25.00), which you do not have to submit everyday; maybe spread them out 2-3 a week.

Now you have 30 pieces of quality content to spread out over a few weeks.

If you build a relationship with one person instead of jumping around, they learn your style and what you want.

For $100.00/$125.00 you are all set with a months' worth of quality content.

Just my two cents....
