Hey there. Well PLR stands for Private Label Rights. That means that someone out there wrote the article and then made it available to the article market for others to use, permission-based. Anyone in the world can use them. You can re-post these articles butin most cases PLR does not give you the ability to brand yourself or incluse links within the text to your affiliate programs. Unique articles are ones that you or let's say a ghostwriter for you writes. No one else has permission to claim that exact article as their own original writing. Thus unique and you can create the content to suit you, your business and any of your affiliate links.

You can certainly post PLR to your site for content purposes. However, you will not be able to submit them to the article directories. AD's require original content, so they would reject a PLR article.

    Hope this helps ya!

You can take a lot of PLR stuff and re-write them though. I have a lot of 'raw' PLR articles, typos, spelling mistakes, the works. You have to just re-write them in your own words. I've submitted quite a few to the article directories with no problems. But if you write from scratch, it's yours to do what you want with.

I think of PLR articles as templates or article outlines, basically a shortcut. They CAN be used as is for certain applications but you will get the most use out of them by tweaking them and making them unique.

PLR content is a great stepping stone and shortcut since you don't have to start an article from scratch. It's definitely a great, fast way to start off.

When re-writing PLR, I'd recommend using DupeCop - Online and desktop tools to detect duplicate content to ensure the content is at least 60% unique, but aim for 80+% if you're adventurous.

If your rewritten article is different at least 75% then you'll not experience any problem.

I agree, PLR articles are a great place to start but adding your own unique message will definitely help you. Places like EzineArticles does frown on PLR articles even if re-written but if you write it with your own style and angle, I don't see how they could stop you. Nonetheless, I wish you luck!

The problem I've found with most PLR articles is that they're so poorly written. Sometimes, they just don't make any sense at all, and it takes me longer to rewrite the article than to write one that's original.

When you're purchasing PLR articles, I suggest that you ask for sample article first to determine the quality.

I prefer unique content over PLR but if you treat the PLR article as "research" and reword it in your own voice, using your own words, that can be a huge time saver. And once you rewrite a few of them, you'll find that it gets easier and easier. Where a unique article of 500 words would take me 15 minutes (including research) a rewrite of the same length would take me 8 or so. But my first rewrite took me even longer - I think it took about 25 minutes but it gets easier.

Get PLR and rewrite/spin them so they become almost unique. You will then have unique content.

How much does a PLR article normally cost? I found a writer on elance and she would charge me $3.00 per unique article. I guess this is a good price but how would I know if my article is unique?

One way is for you to take a few random sentences and put them in quotation marks in the Google search box. If they show up in the results you need to look deeper to see if it's an exact match in an ex acct context = Not good.

There's also software for checking duplicate content and a search in Google will throw out many results to choose from.

Developing the skill to create your own content is actually a great skill to have and is something I encourage. Its easy to learn and maybe at some point outsourcing could become the only way to go due to volumes needed.

This is just a quick and short response so anyone who has more info or wants to expand on this is free to!

Be sure and tell the person that you are requesting unique, original content articles. You should also tell her you will be using copyscape.com or dupecop.com to veryify if the articles are originial.

Either one of these 2 tools will tell you if the article is original are not. Each article you receive from the writer will need to be run through 1 or both of the tools. If the article has been posted anywhere else it will come up.

It would help you keep your writer honest.

You might also take the time to check out the many article writers here on the WF. There are some extremely good ones and you may be able to work a deal with them.

Short answer is: there are basically two differences between unique article and plr article:

    1. PLR article is much cheaper than unique article

    2. With unique article, you are the only one using it, so you have no competitors. With plr, you are sharing the content with several other webmasters (so it pays to check the number of plr licenses being sold: the fewer the better )

I use a mixture of both PLR and unique articles for most of my sites. My search engine rankings are pretty decent, but I usually make sure to use more original content and add it first.
