Social media network (CLOSED)

I have been looking at many social media platforms ,what I want to discuss is should my social media platform be open to the public or by private invite only.

The reason for this question is that I have a client who has 2,000 customers who subscribe to his email list.

He was thinking about facebook and myspace but i suggested that he should have a private network that all of his members to join and then reward them.I believe in looking after the core customers.
