I've been approached...

By a number of friends and a couple of relatives who are interested in learning how to create their own info product. They have asked me if I was up to the task of possibly creating some kind of course for them.

I have done some research on this and of course there are a lot of courses which teach you how to do this. I have an ability to explain things very simply and I just wonder if creating a course on this would be a good money maker.

Is there anyone here who thinks they would benefit from a course like this? My skills are mainly in writing, so I don't think it would be hard to research this and create a good solid course to help people. I just would like some opinions.

Thanks

I think you have a great opportunity in front of you.

The secret to make money is:

    1. Finding out what people want

    2. Creating it

    3. Giving (selling) it to them

You can ask those people what kind of info they would like your product to contain, this way they get what they want.

If you think you can create a solid course, just go ahead and do it.

It's not that much about the content of the course, it's in your ability to market it.
There are loads of resources and courses out there for this kind of thing, so you really will need an edge/angle, and preferably to build a list of interested people.
Marlon Sanders sent out a video recently as an example (go to his website - marlonsvideos dot com and put /freevid after the URL - I can't post actual URLs in threads yet)

    Hi Steve,

The market is crowded with such guides. Some are good, some are a festering pile of garbage, but I know that's not news.

I like to ask these three questions before moving forward on a project.

    1. Why do they need it?

    2. What happens if they don't get it?

    3. Why should they get it from you?

Each of these questions can be answered in different ways.

You need to figure out what makes your guide better or more valuable. How much experience do you have in creating info-products? How successful have they been?

Another thing to consider is who are you targeting? People who know how to create Word documents? That only know how to turn a computer on and surf the web?

I believe people are looking for guides like this, but you need the right "hook" and offer something others don't. Or at least be able to connect with your market in the right way.

    That's my take on it.

    Best of luck,
    Michael

Excellent advice! Thank you! I will keep all of this in consideration.

There are many courses available on how to create info products.

What that means is there is big demand for this topic.

If you can present it in a clear way, and add your own spin, I say go for it!

Whether it makes money for you will depend on how you present your offer, and how you drive traffic.

Thanks everybody for your input! What I think I want to do is create this course and also try to place it on Click Bank and see how it does. Maybe I will even do a product launch! The wheels in my brain are turning now.

What really does Harv Eker have to offer much different than a Tony Robbins or others?

Himself and the way he delivers the message, that is the key.... Good luck
This seems true to me too! I just would like to come up with a different "spin" or "hook".

I've bought no less than three courses like that.

You'll have to come up with some compelling benefits before I'll buy a fourth, but I'm pretty sure a lot of people haven't even bought one yet.

Hey Steve (I assume your name is Steve?)

Anyway I would say...give it a go. I certainly wouldn't stop from creating one because there are already so many of those beginner guides out there. Most are rubbish, trust me I've read quite a lot.

Most beginner guides are not written from a beginners perspective. They mention hey this is a beginners guide and they just jump right into it, and use difficult marketing terms without explaining them first, most don't even have a step by step system and it turns into a big mess...

If you're able to write something that will be super easy to grasp for a beginner you can rake in huge profits if you know how to make YOUR GUIDE stand out. Trust me there are still tons of people out there who are in need of this information especially in today's economy

I think it's been done into the ground on the Internet.....infact ask us all..we are experts at doing what you want to do.
But what really makes us money is by being creative and 100% original and doing what no one has done before - yet creating something everyone must purchase and can't live without.....this is the true secret of making money online !

I think I agree about the success of it...It will be in how it is marketed, but I am going to target those who would rather be product merchants and not affiliates. I have talked to a lot of people who would rather not play the affiliate game and think that creating their own product to sell would be easier and possibly bring in a better income.

I also want to go very in depth with this course, because I don't see a whole lot out there as far as product creation from start to finish. And that includes sales pages and copy. Anyway, thanks for all of your comments!

Yeah I know about Kevin's website...It is excellent. And yes I agree about filling in any gaps that have been left out in other products. That is why I want mine to be very in depth.

      Hi Steve

As people have already mentioned there are numerous courses like that already.

There's no need to create something from scratch. Purchase a couple from people who you 'know' are knowledgeable. Keep the good, get rid of the bad, add whatever you think is missing, stir in a medium bowl for two minutes and viola:: your info product.

More importantly, find a marketing angle. Maybe your product is for stay at home moms, or stay at home dads, or busy professionals who want to earn additional money, or teachers looking to pad their bank account.

In fact, by changing the cover and a few words (and the cost of buying a new domain) , you can use the same product to target many markets.

      Hope this helps,

      Kevin

If it's not in your current business plan or if you're not over-the-top passionate about it from the getgo, I'd say not to do it.

Whenever people ask me to create them an info course, I refer them to the 30 day challenge: Thirty Day Challenge

It's free, archived all year long, and goes into painstaking detail, with forums to cover any missed answers.

I find that's enough to stop most people as they usually don't take action... and the ones who DO learn a ton from the course. Makes your life a whole lot easier either way.

Agree The Thirty Day Challenge is a nice way to explain to relatives/friends what you're doing online if they are interested in making money online too.
