The Trap Of Comparing Your Income To Others

I'm a really hard worker, but I often find myself comparing my income with other people. When they make more then I do I feel it diminishes what I'm doing, but at the same time I look to see if there is something their doing that I'm not so I can learn from them. Does anyone else have this problem and what do you do about it?

Culturally, Americans view money as proof of their personal worth and intrinsic value.

You can't easily stop thinking along these lines, because it's all around you in this country. Money is success. The signs of that are all around you, seeping into your consciousness through thousands of tiny little signs that you don't consciously see.

All you can do is intellectually recall that your bank balance is NOT your personal net worth, no matter what your banker says.

It is become a dark town full of trouble, there is no ease in its streets, beauty has left it and the old songs are gone." - Lord Dunsany, The Messengers
