Hi warriors, I have a question for you guys, I was just doing a keyword research for my next project when I came accross a keyword that looks good to me and the competition is not so high. However, the dot com and dot net for the keyword have been registered. My question is should I register thekeyword101.com? I intend flipping the blog after 4 months or so depending on how profitable the niche is. |

Ok, I'll jump in here. I may not be the person you were asking as I am no pro, but I have a keyword101.com domain name myself. I think it depends on how you intend to develop the site. If it is a content-oriented, somewhat instructional site, then 101 fits. (Think of your college classes: English 101, Math 101, etc.) It kind of implies that you are breaking the information down to the basics. If you are doing (for example) a shopping guide site, like an IPK or similar, then the 101 makes no sense, and I would keep looking. I know that many say that domain names don't matter at all, and others say they are the be-all-end-all. I fall somewhere in the middle. I think the domain name needs to make sense, but beyond that, it is how you market it that counts. Hope I helped a little. |

If you are selling info about how to use "keywords", then get it. The point is to have the keyword in your domain name. Actually, the domain name is not that important but it is way better to have the keyword in it for generic results and best to have .com IMO. But I've had great results with .org and no keyword in the domain too. Just do it for the $9. |

I've had good results with .org too. You may consider that if it's available. But I agree with tj miller. If you're primarily providing information or a how-to then 101 will work. You might also consider keywordinfo.com |
