Default Wordpress? why is it so popular..

Hi all,

I really don get it, what is the big fus about wordpress?

I keep reading and hearing about it. Everyone seems to have one except me.

So could anyone enlighten me about this wordpress matter?

Does it hold some advantage over normal salesletter type of websites or other more conventional types?

Are they popular because they are indexed more highly by google and other search engines hence indicating they are good option for SEO strategy.

Or because simply that they are free, although I know this much that there are 2 kinds of wordpress ... first on is free like blogger.com and other which is the self hosted option is not free because you have to buy hosting and domian if you are using it as primary site.

Kindly enlighten me about the points above to do with wordpress. I have not yet deployed it for my Internet marketing strategy and thats why I am asking if I am missing out on something I shouldn't.

Versatility and ease of use would be m two main reasons for using WP.
I don't use it for everything... I still like to sling code... lol

For me it has provided a simple, nearly idiot proof way to put up a website.

As a very technically challenged person, even using a WYSIWYG such as Kompozer can scramble my brain.

WP is a much easier starting point and even though it still has a learning curve, it is not nearly as steep as learning html (at least for me...)

Just to add to what others have been saying Wordpress is a great tool. Not only is it easy to setup a page in minutes it is great for SEO with the correct plug ins working for you.

I know many people who have success with wordpress but also know others who are just as successful and have never touched it. I think it all has to do with personal preference.

For me personally I like wordpress. I think it is a great platform that is easy to use, great for SEO and can be set up quickly.

Wordpress is on blogger?

Wordpress.com is the self-hosted option, and then you can easily install wordpress (available from wordpress.org, or as a direct install through most hosting services) on your own domain.

Self-hosted is the much preferred option as wordpress.com limits your ability to customize it (and of course its not your own site, which sucks).

I use wordpress exclusively for my sites because:
(1) easy to install;
(2) I can customize (through themes, plugins and settings) it quickly without knowledge of code;
(3) I can edit it (through the admin panel of the website) from any computer in the world as long as I have an internet connection;
(4) it is very SEO friendly;
(5) adding additional pages to a site is very easy, and quickly adds them in a very SEO-friendly manner.

I'm a coder/web developer/programmer by day and wordpress junkie by night. Hard coding has benefits that wordpress can never equal. With that said, the speed with which I can put up a wordpress site and plug all the tools I want is unequaled by anything I have found yet. I can literally build a site in less than thirty minutes and that includes well over 100 pages of content. After that, the site can drip feed and add it's own content while I move on to something else.

Sure I just made hacking my site 95% easier, but I have a backup tool and I'll just put it all right back and then find out who you are and return the favor daily for the next six months.

It really depends what you intend to use it for.

How many pieces of software is truly a swiss army knife....

...one that I know of - wordpress.

I run the following types of sites with wordpress:
1. Blogs
2. Sales pages
3. Web stores
4. Membership sites
5. Article directories
6. Video directories

Oh, and wordpress does clean windows!

Versatility, easy to learn and use, free themes and plugins.

The main advantage is that WP sites are highly dynamic and support WEB2.0 "stuff" like RSS feeds and pinging. This means, as opposed to a static site, you put content on it...other sites are pinged an notified about your content. In addition they can be very SEO/Google optimized.

With very little work and a few helpful plugins its simply possible to get more traffic and better google rankings as opposed to a static site.

The other power is in the fact that they can be 100% automated ("autoblogging")..eg they get and search content and distribute it, and you dont need to do a thing once you installed such an autoblog.

Since a WP site is *usually* always a blog type of site - this means content is often updated. And Google loves nothing more than often updated content While static sites might not change for ages.

The big fuss about Wordpress are the plug-ins. Yeah they're cool and allow you to do some great stuff (Advanced SEO, tracking, etc.) but unless you have someone to show you how to use it correctly it's not much different than other blogging services.

I had a content packed Wordpress blog for over 6 months (learned how to set it up from a Wordpress expert) and never got the kind of results I was looking for. Yes, Wordpress in free minus domain and hosting, but to really maximize it takes more than what your average user can tell you.

no need to learn css or html, if it needs coding, you find a plug in. that way I can spend more time marketing and not tearing my hair out over web design. I have seen some great sales letter pages done on WP. it is not the look of the page as much as the program to get it there. it is a great content managment system. It is versatile enough to build a blog or static website.

THe list could go on and on. WP is great and being free just adds to its greatness.

Wordpress ROCKS! You can setup a fully functional site in no time. You don't even need to know html and no matter what you want to do there is a plugin for it. Also there is such a huge support community that you can always find help for whatever you need. Also Google loves wordpress. I could go on and on but you need to find out for yourself.

Wordpress makes it easier to get indexed and is easy to setup as well. Of course, i might end up repeating it. But, it is really easy to SEO word press. Mostly, the all in one SEO pack does it.
The plug ins are really handy and make it soooo easy. And in response to a repl that was posted above, there is a plug in that sends your data in your inbox daily. So, even if it does get hacked, it would take minutes to set it up again!

Wordpress is simply the easiest thing for marketers to use to build web properties. I am talking about .org, not .com.

Because its open source software there is an army of geeks and nerds fueling the functionality of the software platform. Not to mention the marketers that have found out that they don't have to spend hours building simple mini sites to build a list and sell a product.

With all the plugins and themes (free and commercial) you can just about have a website that will do almost anything you want it to in a matter of minutes.

Most hosts who use cPanel have either simplescripts or fantastico which will allow you to upload wordpress in under five minutes to your server and then, away you'll go never to look back.

So, if you get the chance, check it out. You'll love it.

Simple answer...

It is so versatile, and the software is free. You can make a Wordpress blog do anything.

Plus...

It literally attracts targeted traffic if you set it up correctly and choose your niche and keyword phrases well.

Because with all the plugins and tweaks it rocks! Plus you can change the whole layout and design with just a few clicks back and forth. There was a little learning curve but it is well worth it.
