Getting Your Kids Involed In Your IM...

I've been involved in IM for a short time now and I really enjoy the challenge that it brings me.

A few months back I decided to introduce my kids to the world of IM. I created them both blogs based on their interests and let them write the posts, made some videos and of course put some ads on their sites (can you say college fund...) They both enjoy seeing the hits on their videos and drop in and out of making content for their sites (I try not to pressure them)

I wanted to get some opinions and some direction that I can turn them on too from other warriors. Is there any programs geared towards kids? They're not ready for facebook accounts or anything like that but they both enjoy seeing the results from their blogs (not a lot of money but the stats really get them excited).

Are there any programs geared towards kids and making money on the internet? (Maybe I should write about their experience )

Anyone else getting their kids involved in an early age? Just looking for other ideas to keep them motivated.

Instead of enrolling them in a program, why not just employ them as cheap labour? LOL..depending on how young they are, they'll be thrilled to be receiving $5 an hour to build links for you (only half joking)

Getting them to even sit in front of the computer is an amazing feat... unless it's a video game of course...

Maybe that's not a bad idea though, child labor with no law violations...

I think what you're teaching your kids is amazing. You're laying the foundation for their future and I'm sure they are aspiring entrepreneurs in the making. =)

I hope so... they got their old man to take care of in the future

Right now it's just about having fun and seeing the potential. I think that it's important to get them involved in something that can be a career and still have fun doing it.

It's funny because I was just thinking about the life lessons that this can lay down for them - corporate America can be tough -- this is fun!

You have read my mind Scooter2084, I have a 14 year old daughter and have been thinking the same thing, seems like a great niche someone could go after. A IM program geared toward kids and getting them going. If you find one please let me know.

My wife and I have 6 kids and we have had them all helping out in some form or another for some time now. They each work 5 hours a week on one of our IM businesses in order to receive their allowance. We don't pay them to clean their rooms or to take out the trash. That's stuff they should be doing for free as decent human beings. We also set up private blogs for them so they can learn to articulate themselves via the written word. Which is something they absolutely love!

How young? I took no unnecessary chances with my kids and the Internet until they were twelve. Even then they were read the riot act. Way too many freaks online. I watched the pictures they put up and the videos and of course where they went. I'd rather IM not even be on their radar right now.

I've been very diligent to give them "online persona's". They don't post under their own names and the videos are non-identifying.

I just want them to understand the concepts behind making money online and that you can be "out there" and not be readily identified.

I moderate everything - it's interesting how fast they pick up on things though...
