Should I focus on rising my blog articles or the ezine version in ranking?

hey guys. I have a quick question. I am writing about an article a day right now for my blog. I take these articles and add then to the major article directories, backlink through forum post, blog post, and all the usual practices to generate traffic. I've been keeping track of all my articles and what Im noticing is my Article Directory versions (EZA, GoArticles especially) are the versions of my articles ranking in the top 2-3 pages for my keywords.

When its my EZA/GoArticle link that is ranking highest, do i need to switch my backlinking strategy to those URLs instead of my blog article url? I know those article directories have an advantage to ranking high and fast because they are looked at so highly by google. Im just wondering if i shouldn't waste my time backlinking to my blog url version of the article when I have an EZA article already ranked higher or if my blog versions are the more solid forms that I want ranked. I just hate to send my twitter and facebook viewers to my EZA articles instead of my blog articles. I am also trying to keep in mind this whole campaign is focused on getting newsletter subscribers and really who cares where they come from.

Thanks james, I know Ive read that article a few times but I don't remember it mentioning anything which to backlink after they are posted and ranked. I will go through it again though and see what I can find
