Default Clickbank Payment In UK?

Hi everyone,

I have, fairly recently, started using Clickbank.com for the first time to handle the payments of my products.

I'm based in the UK but I understand that Clickbank pay by Cheque (or Check for the US spelling) in a dollar currency. Now I have yet to receive a cheque from them BUT I'm unsure about whether I can just bank a dollar cheque in a UK bank..

How does it work?

I went to the payment options section but it only gives me the option of a cheque and nothing else.

Can any UK guys shed some light from their experience?

Thanks,
Marc

Hi Marc,

I'm in the UK (Bromley). I receive cheques from Clickbank in US$.

Take them to your bank, explain to the cashier it's a cheque in US$. She/He will stamp your paying-in-book in the ususal way. The cheque will be sent off "for collection" and you'll receive the £ proceeds in your account within a few days, the £ amount dependent on the exchange rate at the time they receive payment. You might also (depending on your bank) get a letter telling you when it's credited.

It's easy Marc, nothing to worry about and usualy quite quick.
Hope this helps,
John

Some banks in the UK will charge a sum for this as well. I think it's free at Barclays, well it was the last time I checked anyway.

Most banks have a conversion and commission charge for clearing your cheques (Ex Bank Manager Here!). All the major clearing banks will accept the cheque, just make sure you endorse it on the back. Clearing times again will be different, but anywhere from a week to 2 months! However, on average, my cheques cleared at Natwest and Lloyds TSB within about 2 weeks.

Once you have received 3 cheques within a 3 month period, you can change your Clickbank payment to a weekly direct deposit. Mine goes in as regular as clockwork every Thursday!

Cheers
Partha

No UK bank is free!

Partha hit it on the head, anytime between 2 weeks and 2 months. And that doesn't depend on the different banks, that can be with the same bank - go figure.

Barclays - hmm! well it depends on the cashier of the day.
TSB - again - if you can find someone with a brain behind the counter it might be processed or it might not.
I could go on but I won't.

The thing with clickbank is to meet the CDR - (I explain this more fully on my blog - experiment I did last year, new clickbank account for just affiliate payments.)

Once you've got a decent sized cheque, then lower your payment threshold to get the next two payments really quickly then go into your account and ask to be paid by direct deposit.

Hope that helps.

Barclays is certainly not free I deposited a US Cheque and it took about 6 weeks. When I finally got a letter to say that proceeds had been deposited in my account I was pretty shocked it hadnt cleared that long. Fees are massive too. I hear halifax will take about 2 weeks but for a cheque of $70 be prepared to pay around £10

Saying that its the first 3 cheques with clickbank which are paid fortnightly as a cheque. Just make sure you dont put a higher threshold because that may mean a long time before getting the cheque and certainly delaying your conversion to direct payment

You will also need to set up manually your account details after the 3rd payment has been issued

I use auctionchex.com to change my US cheques....I have used them for a while and even for transaction of over $2000 so they are reliable only that the fees are slightly higher but you dont wait ages for the money. A trade of worth it IMHO...Basically u send them a cheque and they send u a GBP cheque or transfer the money into your account

All UK banks have sticky fingers and will charge more than they should, its like leaving the keys to your car with a couple of teenagers when you go away, they will abuse it lol.

PS. Halifax is the worst, dont cash it at Halifax
