anyone use an SSL on their sites?

Do any warriors here use a ssl certificate on your site?

My shopping cart wont allow a tracking script on their secure pages, because my site, the referrer site doesnt have an SSL.

I looked into getting one, some cost as much as $1000 per year! And then there are others selling it for $9.95 per year.

Are they both the same in regards to having a https: site?

My site only makes about $200 month right now so I dont want to spend $1000 to track conversions, but then again I dont want to skip testing, as I know that is how I will increase that $200 to much higher.

Any thoughts?

A security certificate is a security certificate...as far as I know, irrespective of whether it costs $9.95 or $995.00.

Our banks (AU) don't appear to care whose certificate is used...as long as you have one.

Thanks! that is good to know!

$9.95 is cheap enough that I might as well try it. If it doesnt I have only lost change compared to the other ones.

I use SSL .. matter fact have 12 of them .. Go register a domain name with Namecheap.com - Cheap domain name registration, renewal and transfers - Free SSL Certificates - Web Hosting - Free URL Forwarding, e-mail forwarding and DNS services are included with our cheap domain names registration service and you can get an SSL for free for 1 year.

Not all SSL is the same... Huge difference between 128-bit and 256-bit encryption and also not all companies have trusted SSL certificates so you must be careful who you deal with. Anyone asking for more than $29 a year is crazy..

TheRichJerksNet is right. Not all SSL certificates are created equal. I would suggest going with at least a 256-bit certificate. I use AntiVirus and SSL Certificates - Internet Security Software | Comodo and go with their evl series(roughly 100-150/yr)

so you are saying that as long as it is a 256 encryption then it is a good one?

This is the one I was looking at, it says "upto 256" : GeoTrust RapidSSL certificates for as low as $9.00/yr

they are both from the same site, anyone use this site before?
