Warriors,

I have a wordpress site that I can't get into. I tried recovering the password by adding my email, but it says that the email address isn't recognized. Anybody have any advice on how I can regain control of my wordpress site again.

It's so weird because it's a product page that I'm still making money on. They hacked my account but didn't change anything on it. I'm still making sales but cannot get in to change anything.

Oh. Forgot to mention, it's not a wordpress.com site, it's a website on a hosting account...

    1. Go into your cpanel for the hacked site
    2. Click on phpmyadmin
    3. click on database
    4. click on the database for your wp site
    5. Browse the row titled wp_users
    6. edit the row for your user account.
    7. change your password and email addy
    8. click go.

    This should do the trick.

You might want to take a look around in your files and in your wp-admin dashboard to make sure everything looks right and that there isn't anything in there that shouldn't be.

Check the user email addresses too while you are in the phpmyadmin. A lot of times the hackers change the email to their own so when you reset the password, it is automatically emailed to them too.

Exactly. I should have been more clear about that when I said to change the password and email addy. I can almost guarantee the address in there is the wrong one.

If you do have the hacker's email address, I'm sure you can think up some nefarious things to do with it. [I kid, I kid. Don't do this. At least, not based on my recommendation. ]

I was hacked a few weeks ago on multiple sites. One one site they overwrote the wrong file. So like you, I was unable to get into that site, but the site was still functioning.

Follow riff's instructions and you will be set. Make sure to upgrade all of your installations to the latest version and consider adding some additional security features.

You can do it based on my recommendation instead.
