Did this really just happen this morning - my friday the 13th luck!

I cant believe that this really happened to me this morning. Ive been in internet marketing for nearly five years now and have had lots of friday the 13th but nothing quite as bad as this.

Before my website days i was on ebay which was known for the complaints for silly and daft things but this really does take the biscuit!

I offer a range of outsourcing services and my husband is pretty much in charge of them including many Twitter services. We put in a lot of hours both ourselves and our team to make sure that everything is running smoothly and offer email support from 7am-6pm which we thought was great hours because many people take 12 hours to reply to your email in this business.

We received an order last night at 6.34pm for managing someones twitter account including getting them new followers, deleting direct messages, following back followers and replying to their tweets. We charge $100 a week for the service so they get a great deal.

Obviously they ordered out of business hours so we saw the email when we logged on at 7.00ish this morning but we also had two other emails from them.

1 at 1.00am when we were sleeping - telling me that we hadnt contacted them and it was disgusting and we couldnt be trusted

1 at 2.34am again whilst we were sleeping with a paypal dispute opening for the payment made at just after 6.30pm - seven hours after making payment stating that we were dodgy for not replying to their emails!!!

well i found this highly amusing but then after that i thought why bother taking the time to sign up and then act like this six hours later????

with this in mind i would love to hear your stories about how quickly you have received a paypal dispute. As im sure someone out there can beat my record???

obviously i refunded him as i didnt want to put our hard graft into someone that treats you so badly!

kind regards

sam

fastest I have had was 2.7 minutes after purchase. But it was a freebie seeking scammer and I just refunded.

People who buy stuff on the internet are usually looking for instant results because most of the products sold do provide instant downloads.

As online service marketers, we have the uphill task of re-educating these people to the fact that a people powered service is NOT an instant download.

I dont think i could ever beat your 2.7 minutes - but i do see issues with the clickbank system. I know a lot of people especially based in asia and america that know the clickbank terms so well that even before they see the product they will class it as a freebie and put in a refund request to clickbank straight after they have the download on their desktop.

Though to get the sales we need to offer a guarantee and unfortunately some people will abuse it from time to time.

A friend of mine that i told about this an hour ago on facebook told me that he had a refund request an hour after someone ordered some articles from him because they didnt see an instant download link!

      kind regards

all while i was in bed asleep!

i am sure that people in america actually think that all internet marketers are based in america. or stay up all night just to deal with their order!

I love this one - you have really made me and my hubby laugh this morning - ive had similar probs with a video jv i did recently.

You just cant believe people are actually that crazy - but are we suposed to take them seriously when they say these things to us or treat it as a joke?

It happened to me literally minutes after they paid for my services, even though it says in my autoresponder email that we will contact them as soon as we get their email, as we may be in different time zones. It shocked me to see an email from Paypal when I got up.

But thankfully, we resolved the issue with no problems.

That was going to be my input - it takes less than a minute to setup an autoresponder in Cpanel.

Tell them in the email thanks for your interest/business, that you received their message and your office hours.

Might save you some headaches in the future and comes across as a more professional service.

It is probably good to be rid of this type of customer early in the game. Since you provide a service, can you imagine the complaints that person would have continually emailed about?

With this particular twitter service that we were selling we would be dealing with the customer long term so it would have driven us mad if they had been this bad so early on.

      Hi bev

i remember actually receiving a negative feedback on ebay back in 2005 for an ebook because they didnt understand who to download it and because i was sleeping and didnt answer them within the hour i was a bad seller and that too was for a 99 cent product.

      kind regards

    OMG that's rich.

The worst I had was an auction that ended and the bidder that won opened a complaint with eBay because I hadn't contacted him in 10 minutes. He had sent about 4 emails between the auction end and the complaint. He expected me to be at the computer waiting for the auction to end.

      Hi scott

ive noticed thats what people expect on ebay thats why i dont like selling on there anymore. Sometimes when you are selling tangiable goods it is often a different time of day when you list them so you dont always have the chance to be there when they end.

There's a very big opportunity in your original post. I hope that you analyze the situation and uncover it rather than simply write off the potential customer as someone who "treats you so badly".

Without customers, your business would have no revenue.

I've converted my share of "jerks" into customers. MY perception of a potential customer doesn't always equal reality.

I've done so as well and later wished I didn't...

If someone acts like that in the beginning, in my experience anyway, it is all downhill from there.

One of my most profitable long-term business relationships started with a customer who acted like a jerk to begin with. My experience has taught me to keep my mind and my door open.

But then again, I'm not in this just for a quick buck.

i set up as many tweets as you want on your account - even though i automate it i send out different ones so your followers dont realise. Cant do it completely unautomated as many of my customers are based in america which i am not.

Well im an ebay buyer - but i would never be an ebay seller again - they have just gone nuts.

the problem is anyone can have an ebay account and set themselves up in business on there. I probably have 1 bad experience as a buyer out of 30 purchases but still wouldnt leave it alone.

In portugal things are rather expensive and even with p+p its cheaper to buy them from ebay.

That's a really stressed out person flooding your inbox with insults after just 6 hours.

      I don't have a story but I do have a suggestion:

I assume that the person who made the purchase was from the other side of the world (you'd hope so anyway) hence the time difference.

Set up an auto-reply to every purchase so that the buyer gets a confirmation (you probably already do this). But also add your time zone and state your hours of business alongside a sentence that says something like 'we aim to reply to your queries within 1 business day or less. Please allow for time zone differences.

I know you mentioned your response times are very good, but unless you're using that in your copy, nobody knows about this. Also, anybody making a purchase is already in your sales funnel, so they don't need convincing (hence, no need to tell them about fast responses).

I'm sure they'll be impressed when they do receive a fast response, but stating clearly that this is not a promise may save a sale every now and then.

      Just a thought

I completely understand what you mean - when i was an ebay powerseller i felt that i had to log in every few hours to answer any new questions just in case their was a customer waiting for me. I noticed a big difference when i went on the internet with my own websites instead it felt so much better and easier.

my feedback was around the 99.8 when i was selling on there and all the negs came from people over reacting from cheap products.

      Within 10 minutes after purchase.

      I disputed that one successfully.

The guy actually signed up to the email list on the product thank you page after purchase then claimed he didn't know anything about the purchase.

Not the brightest person on earth LOL.

I still can't see why anyone would use a paypal chargeback when they could simply ask for a refund and get their money back immediately.

I love the ones that go like this.

        Dear Sir,

I received your package today. Thanks so much for the fast shipping. I understand I purchased an item for $73.99 and saved at least $60 from buying locally but I just have one quick question.

I paid $2.99 for shipping and noticed you only paid 2.87 to ship the item. Why is that? Can you refund the extra 13 cents to xxxxxx@aol.com

        Thanks!!

        =============

I kid you not. Many may think I am joking, sell 200 items a day on ebay and find out quick the mentality.

        Hi andrew

ive just successfully disputed a paypal chargeback myself and i too hate it just as much as you do. People shouldnt think that the answer is a chargeback but they do.

I had one customer that bought my one time offer then confirmed their email on my email address then issued a chargeback making contact through the same email address. He also became an affiliate of mine signing up for a hostgator account from my thank you page.

I just cant believe that they dont realise they will get caught!!

        kind regards

    Hi harvey

I love this one - I do think that with ticket systems some people believe it is live chat though.

    kind regards
