On your router, clone a mac address, reboot

Your ISP will assign you an IP address. That may be changed if you restart your modem, but it may not.

A sure-fire way of changing your IP address is to move to a different ISP, if it's that critical for you!

Yes, it depends if you have static or dynamic IP address.
Not sure what exactly you need different IP address for?
Maybe you should try with Tor ( Tor: anonymity online ).
Many users are satisfied with this free software.

I use a program called HideMyIP. You do have to pay for it as it isn't free but it is well worth the expense, especially if you do a lot of web 2.0 account creation. No more danger of getting banned as you can swap your IP at will.

You can try it for free for 14 days Hide-My-IP.Com - Hide Your IP Address, Surf Anonymously, Protect Your Identity, Guard Against Hackers

    Hope this helps

TOR is a pretty standard way of doing it. Note that it's not something you can just download and ignore, you have to put some effort into it.

If I want a different IP without using a proxy I just log in to my router
and tell it to release and renew. That gets a new one from my ISP.

Some ISPs (like mine) won't give a new IP on a simple reboot. The
router has to be off for a length of time. Release and renew always works.

  • There is no legitimate reason to change your IP unless you want to post to places that do not want you.

You can change your IP by getting a dial up modem and connecting and reconnecting, this also works with some broadband providers. When you reestablish a connection it often will assign you a new IP.

But I'm not the internet police and this is not the only way to change your IP. But you could actually be wasting a lot of time and effort for little return.

I think Google is a little anal and quick to block IP's running automated queries and that's about the only legit reason I can see. And yes I'm a Hipocrite because I would like to change my IP so that I can use Keyword Research Pro to to automated and extended searches on more than 150 results. I'd love to be able to cut it loose and let it dig on 5K keywords at a time.

The downside to Proxy is the paid proxies are well known and easily blocked, private proxies are hard to find and get into, and a lot of public proxies are monitored by Government Agencies looking out for cheats and scammers.

Being ethical has it's own rewards.

    Good luck.

Hide my IP is junk. It's just a front end to manage free proxy servers you have to go out and find. But good luck with that. I think I said that already.

Not so. My IP had a virus on its server and began to send out emails, because of that I can not send email to hotmail addresses, unless I change my IP address.

Would like to know how to log into router. I have a satellite connection. To far out in the boonies for anything else.

To give you the best answer we would need to know the reason or purpose.

Ip is ofcourse giving by your provider. Some are dynamic which means that they change each time you turn off or restart your connection.

The simplest way is to use a proxy. You said you didn`t want to do it that way, is there a reason?

Changing your provider is a way, but drastic if there is no reason for it.
