Using your IM skills to Make Money Offline

If you know your how to make a simple video from photos here is a little offline business idea that is a win win for everyone involved.

A friend of mine did this yesterday and I thought I would share it with you. It is really easy to replicate.

Childcare centres, pre-schools and primary schools all take tons of photos of their littlies during the course of the year. The year is coming to a close and everyone loves to have some memories that they can share and keep.

If you know your way around Animoto or one of the other video creation programs, you could offer to make them up a slideshow type video of all their photos. Drop in some music, put them onto discs and sell them to the parents. Split the profits 50:50 with the co-operating centre as a fundraiser. Parent's will happily pay $10 for one of these DVD's and they would cost so little to mass produce. A couple of hours of work and a little bit of organizing and it is all done

I`m also convinced that every effective online strategy has something what can be applied to off-line business as well. Of course, it takes some analysis. And appropriate modifications. But, after all, it`s all about being creative and figuring out new ways to make our costumers happy, isn`t it?

What about Little League, Boy Scots, Girl Scots, 4H, etc. Could be another source of income? I don't have kids so I really don't know any other "clubs" but I am sure there are more out there. If you are familiar with other "clubs", please post it here.

That is a great idea, sumbu! And it is a great thing to offer just in time for the holidays.. Mom buys one as a gift for Grandma and Grandpa, who live out of state, etc.

Looongg time reader. 1st time poster.

I personally own a commercial license of Animoto.

This is truely a great, simple and fresh method. Especially is you have a bunch of PVA's to do some multiple craigslist postings.

I would market it right now for people that don't have a lot to spend on xmas gifts but who want to make a family DVD or something to share for the holidays.

If you wanted to scale this model up you can get a website script (which one, I dunno..maybe someone can chime in?) and have people visit your site and upload their own photos and mp3 to a database. Hope someone can fill in the details where I left off.

If I knew how to do that, I would be going gung ho with it. Again, having a basic understanding but not the knowledge leads me to nowhere. There are only so many hours in a day to learn new skills, who knows, maybe by this time next year I would have the knowledge

Please anybody, could you point me in the right direction?

Are you talking automatically have animoto create the movies or would there be a wait while a 'human' makes the animoto movie?

My problem with selling offline was always selling someone elses product that I thought was crap.

Online, I choose what products I sell, If I don't like it, If I would not buy it if I needed that type of product, I won't waste my time selling it to someone else.

I've always been of the belief that you should outsource the tasks that are not profitable or activities you dislike doing...

If you can't stomach face to face or in person sales, outsource it or get clients in other ways.
