Hi Folks, When searching my keyword in Google I get a different result on each of my 3 computers. IE: two show me at #1 on the first page and on one computer I can't find me anywhere on the first 10 pages. Now with a different keyword and web site two show me at #1 and the other computer shows me at #7 on the first page, and the results don't change when I refresh the page. Any ideas why I would get different results on different computers? Cheers! Dave |

Are the connections using the same IP address for all three, or is one (for example) at your workplace? Google certainly targets the ads based on location, maybe they are also "adjusting" search results?

Google serves up the results it thinks the user wants to see. Say the search term is "apple pie." The user of Computer A spends a lot of time on cooking sites. They're likely to get apple pie recipes. The user of Computer B is always looking for great restaurants. They're likely to get a bakery at the top. The user of Computer C is a programmer. They're likely to get some sites related to programming some weird stuff for Macs. |

If you're logged into Google then you may be getting personalized search results through the Web History "feature". More info: About Web History : Basics - Accounts Help |

Have you tried using Firefox? I got the same issue when using IE to check my ranking. But if I use Firefox, I don't see this issue.

Good thinking Grabie, but it didn't change anything, on my main computer I have both IE and Firefox and the search results are the same in each on puter 2 I have IE only and get the same results as with my main computer on puter 3 I have IE only and get totally different results from the other two no matter how many times I refresh the page or do a new search. I did clear my web history and then put it on pause but the same results go figure ![]() Thanks Dave |

Yes, google uses that as one way of making it more difficult for people to reverse engineer their results and control search listings.
