If you are affiliate marketing and not achieving much success, it might be best to analyse your approach.

Are you trying to sell what everyone else is trying to sell? You've got a hell of a lot of competition. Look at what some of the competition are doing. Are they building a list? Sign up for it, and see what kind of emails you get.

In general, though, if you're enjoying affiliate marketing and have spent a lot of time learning about it, it is possible to succeed with it. If you jump ship and start studying plr, you'll need to learn a whole new set of skills. It might be better for you, but in general, beware of jumping around from opportunity to opportunity. My start into internet marketing had me doing that. You learn a lot, but it doesn't help you achieve a good income.

I agree with davtom.

But IMHO you should also bear in mind that if you create your own products, you have total control over what happens with it; no one can pull the plug, edit, or otherwise alter any part of your product, which can happen with aff products, thus ruining your campaign.

Don't give up on either one, I think you should start with Affiliate marketing to get your feet wet. Sign up for some CPA Networks, it's easier to convert the offer.

About PLR, it's more complicate since how do you know if the product your buying can convert? However, it's actually better than being an affiliate since you don't have to deal with all the bull crap about affiliate link problems, cookies don't clear, sellers trying to build their list but don't give you commission.

Work on both

I do some affiliate marketing, but I did end up creating and selling my own products which is what makes me my real money in IM. PLR can be very useful for that approach.

thanks for all the feedback...im not going to give up on aff, im dedicated to what i do...i will produce sales from it, but just considering the work and time it takes, im trying to figure out which has a higher reward.
I started with aff marketing because that seemed like the base level of all IM, and i figured i mine as well start at the base and work my way up.
From what it sounds like plr and your own products are alot more secure, and have more opportunity for growth, but take a little more work.
So im going to continue aff and put together some plr campaigns in the same niche, so i can improve the aff campaign while working on the plr.

thanks for the advice

Simple, Both. Use the PLR stuff to build a list to push affiliate products however the number one rule of internet marketing is to have multiple steams of income this should just be one of the many.

Totally agree with Sean here. If you find some decent PLR material you can use it to build your list. Break some of the PLR product down to make a free report you can use as bait for your list.

My first thought is that you should be using your plr (especially articles) to provide links that point to and promote your affiliate products. That's the ideal situation.

learn your niche really good by promoting affiliate products, and try to send traffic trough your squeese pages to collect leads..
after you learn to generate traffic and become more expirienced, try to create your own product..using PLR if you want.
good luck
