Hello Warriors,

I used to have a domain addiction however I have overcome my addiction now and well teh domains that I bought some as long as 6 years ago are ranking very well in google.

I dont like geting rid of domains as I always try and follow through with what I intended to do with them and well sometimes I will just stick a thin site up with a bit of adsense on it and forget about it.

Well these last few weeks I have been dropping back and improving the sites by adding some fresh unique content getting some great headers done installing new forums and generally having abit of a spring clean.

Well the first site I revamped was a crappy BANS site and it looked pants so I installed Drupal and PHPBAY and off i went... 3 weeks later the traffic is phenomenal and its got a pagerank rating not massive but still turning a profit!

The second site a redid was just a domain with one page of relevent content and I installed drupal again and phpbay loaded it up with rele content and a bit of adsense and well its also showing a profit and ranking not as good as the last site but still!

SO what I have discovered is not neccesarily ground breaking but still.
Buy a domain name and straight away stick wordpress on it or drupal put some related content on it with adsense or whatever then leave it (if you are to busy to do it propper)

Then by the time you get round to actually doing something with the domain hopefully it would have been crawled by google and it will be easier to get it ranked and the domain would have aged accordingly.

This may be useful for some maybe not but it has got me thinking

All the best

Danny

    Hi Danny,

Generally speaking, I have found this to be the case as well.

Keep up the good work and keep on expanding.

    Regards,
    Sam

    Thanks for sharing Danny.
I also found that passive, "almost forgotten" sites with installed CMS and very little content perform better in long-term than being parked all that time.
It seems illogical to me. But that`s the way it is.

Interesting, I do have quite a few domains sitting around totally undeveloped.

domain age is always a factor in google but not exclusively so.
