Handy tip for Refund Scammers:

Are you a refund scammer, and would like to build your thriving scamming business?

Here's my handy tip for the day:

If you've fraudulently requested a refund for a product, fully intending to continue using it, don't email the company you've committed credit card fraud with and demand tech support. It simply brings unwanted attention to your illegal dealings.

Now run free my little pretties, and spread the darkness that matches the colour of your own rotted souls!

----

I just had this happen to me - and oddly enough, the person who did it posted a borderline rude demand for attention in my forum. I don't mind this, as sometimes this happens, especially if the person is stressed.

So I invited him to open a support ticket and let me know some extra details so I can handle his request.

He did that, and it turns out part of the problem was he had recieved a refund for the product.

Oops.

He never replied to my invitation to repurchase, though....weird.

cheers
Sam

Well, you know Sam, they do say that criminals are stupid.

I guess you just proved that to be true.

      Sam,

I regularly buy my own products and immediatley demand a refund. It's become my new business model.

If I can keep my velocity up so the money comes in faster than the money goes out I'm going to create a WSO that will rock the IM world to its' foundation.

      Wish me luck...

ALAS, it has already been done. Remember that guy that told people how to defeat paypal, and 2checkout? LUCKILY, MANY already countered that, but STILL....

        Genius!

Be careful, though, that's a fine line to read, my friend: if you get even a sniff of what you're doing, you may find you banning yourself.

I guess if you end up banning yourself, you could always use the product you stole from yourself, and put up your own website and go into competition, selling your ripped off product for 99 cents on Ebay.

Actually I'd love to see you start a price war with yourself...

Heh, actually I'm kind of giving him the benefit of the doubt...I'd hate to jump to a conclusion that isn't quite right. I'm not sure what the alternative would be, though

Just a couple of weeks ago I had an email from a guy who openly admitted having bought one of my products and subsequently refunding it. He then went on to demand that I give him the right to translate the product into his own language so he could sell it.

Hah, thanks Georg, flattery gets you everywhere!

I love it when that happens to refunders Sam - I get it once in a while too...makes my day
I know how you feel! I'm really curious about the first thing that goes through their mind when they get the reply. Oh crap, I've done it again!

Heh, that would have been an interesting conversation, Martin!

I remember a couple of years back I had a guy who bought three copies of my software, did a chargeback for all three, then sold his copies on his own website.

He went off his nut - "yelling" at me for my slack morals for disabling the software that he bought. He didn't quite understand that doing a chargeback means he's not actually an owner of the product anymore.

He honestly thought it was his God given right to buy a product, charge it back, and then sell it on his own website for a tenth of the price.

And just to make it even more interesting, he told all his customers to contact me directly to demand that I re-enable their software.

It was the most bizzare group of people I've ever dealt with.

Now I'm not usually one to judge, but to give you an idea of the brains behind these people, the people who were buying his pirate software were then giving testimonials with their website URL's as credit.

"Thanks dude, I love your pirate software! The police can find me simply by going to my website here...."

Okay, not quite that bad, but that's essentially what they were saying.

Whatever happened to natural selection? Charles Darwin has a lot to answer for!

Sam, I used to reply with with repurchase invitations. I no longer do that, it turns out - that's just more trouble and more time waste. I'm not talking about people who repurchase for different reasons, but specifically about people who wanted the refund for the reasons you talk about.
