Advice Needed for very first blog.

Hey guys,

So I came on here a few weeks ago and got some pretty solid advice which led me to the 30 day challenge and my very first blog.

I've been working hard to get it up and would love to get some feedback before an official launch. I've been studying up on SEO to try and optimize the site to its fullest potential.

I hope to get involved with affiliate marketing and to start earning 5000 / month income in the next 30 days.

I am fully commited to work hard and to do whatever it takes to succeed. My mindset is there. I'm ready to work and to become a successful internet marketer.

Thanks for any advice/feedback.

Address is in my signature as the software does not let me post link addresses yet.

Respectfully,

One thing that might be helpful is to turn on permalinks through WordPress' admin panel at Settings -> Permalinks.

I personally use one of the two following Custom Structures:
    Code:
    /%category%/%postname%/
    Code:
    /%postname%/
I use the first if I'm creating a blog where I'll be separating my posts into many different categories. It looks as if that is what you're doing here, so that is what I'd personally advise for this particular project. Using these permalink structures will create keyword rich URL's, which are generally considered to be good for SEO.

The FaceBook and Vimeo links in your sidebar aren't setup properly. Most likely, you just need to add an http(colon)(forward-slash)(forward-slash) in front of the URLs, replacing the colon and two forward-slashes with the actual symbols. Both links currently lead to a 404 page. A 404 is a web server error code meaning "This Page Doesn't Exist On This Server!"

Other than that, add more content!

You might want to try :-

    1) Article Marketing &
    2) Viral video

Both will take you less than 1 hour to set up and a good way to drive traffic to your site. Once that is done, you focus on your content and affiliate products.

    Good Luck Hype.

video marketing and article marketing are great, but I think you have your head in the clouds.
YOu can build a blog to a 5k/month income., but the key word is build. you will be doing good to do 100 to 200 in your first month. it takes time to build traffic and get a loyal readership. You can do it but don't be discouraged and quit when it does not take off as fast as you like.

the internet does not run on instant. it takes the search engines time to index and credit your links to rank your site. and even then you nee a lot of links to get there. no matter how hard you work or how fast you build your links, it will still take time for all of it to be indexed.

also Search engines do not totally trust a brand new site. your pages will bounce around in the search for about 3 months before they settle in to solid rankings.

The point of all this, is it is good to set high goals, but be reasonable in your time frame. some of the time issues are out of your control. do everything you can, but don't expect miracles over night.
    good luck

The thirty day challenge is an excellent place to start. It emphasized building a good foundation to your online business. If you are following the challenge you are probably writing up your squidoo and hubpages currently to build some back links.

A couple of things by way of advice...
    1. Get some content on each of your pages. Even if its from ezine articles. However, you can just write a short description of what each of your pages will be about. Make sure that they have to keywords in them that you are targeting. You can always go back and beef up each page with more content or different content. But you are not giving the search engines much to crawl at this point.

    2. I would definitely put up an "about" page. One good tip is to use a video on your about page and tell people who you are and what your about. Google loves video too.

If you have an ipod or iphone, it really helps to download the 30DC podcasts to listen to over and over.

First off thanks for all the excellent advice. I will work from top to bottom to implement the advice offered and will also make some notes based on the comments offered. As always all advice given is greatly appreciated!

Ebo Etoyep - I will make sure to implement the custom structure as you suggested.

I did want to make note that some of the social links aren't active yet but this is done purposely as not all of my social media channels are fully set up yet so I didn't want to directly link before the channels are all complete for the audience.

Funlosingweight - I do have a plan to write 2 articles per day for the next 30 days which would bump me up to a total of 60 articles in the next 30 days. I am also planning video blogging ever 3 days or so which will document my 30 day challenge progress. I will further continue to offer mini-series videos to attract more viewership on the site.

I am not very familiar with article marketing - could you please offer some more insight on this.

JM Pruit - I totally understand and agree where you're coming from. I know it takes time and I'm more then willing to put in the work and effort to get the results. Along with the blog I am going to be launching several affiliate campaigns in the next 30 days along with a t-shirt company idea that I am working to implement in the next 2 weeks. Will post more on this in another post.

Any tips to help with building some revenue in the next 30 days would be appreciated as well.

Also About me page coming tonight.

    Thanks Guys!

Wanted to share a quick update as I made a few changes to the site design wise.

Planning an official launch on November 20 and will be writing 2 articles per day until December 20 and one per day to follow.

Also will be working on a video campaign that I will put up on Facebook, Youtube, and Vimeo.

      Cheers.

You are really doing an amazing job with your blog man. The design is great and it shows you are working hard to establish it. You need to make sure you add your meta tags and description. Just do a quick google search on how to add meta tags to your blog, and you will see exactly how to do it.
let me know if it helps you.

I am going to be brutally honest here. And yeah I have to agree with a few of the Posters here. To build a solid business in Blogging the fact of the matter is it just takes time. Honestly, when I mean SOLID I mean building a business that surrounds itself with the BEST kind of traffic and that is laser targetted Traffic......... A.K.A. Search Engine traffic.

DO NOT let anyone tell you otherwise but this is the most lucrative from of traffic you can get. And it is the Traffic you should concentrate most of your efforts on.

And guess what ?? It takes time to acquire this traffic. Hell, Google will hardly give you much juice the first year or two of your Domain's existence. That is just the ways it is.
Google looks at Age as having Wisdom. And only through proving yourself with Age will Google and Yahoo give you the Juice to get ranked high in the Search Engines.

I guess you can sum it up by asking do you want a RSS of 10K People who are social Bloggers buying nothing or do you want real targeted people who are hungry consumers ??

BOTTOM LINE is SE traffic will be the Bread and Butter of your Blogging Success. PERIOD, end of story !! Anyone that tells you otherwise is full of BS. Screw the Digg and Stumble Upon traffic and all the other worthless Social Traffic crap. Its good for Backlink building but thats about it.

Ad I will reiterate again that this just takes time !!

The good news, Hype ?? You are taking your first steps and you are TAKING ACTION. Believe me it will be a long hard road as I myself have been Blogging for nearly two years now. The first year was a lonely stretch with not much traffic for me. But by year two its all going quite smoothly and I truly get the BIG picture about Blogging and the potential it has thru Time and patience. It becomes like a Massive, Passive Self Generating Cash machine !!

But only the strongest survive and the longer you stay in the game the more Rewards you will see.

Hype, you have a great mindset and are getting off to a positive start but just dont be surprised or let down if it takes you 2 years or so to reach that kind of Income !!
Just keep plugging away with passionate and wreckless persistence !!
