Opening php & htaccess files

I had a landing site made for me and they emailed php & htaccess files over.

Problem is I can't seem to open them to view, let alone edit them with nvu.

I'm going to email them but thought I might get a quicker responce here from people who may know?

Leave htaccess as it is. Rename the php file with the extension .html . It should look alright then. If not, then let the person know who sent it to you that you want it as a .html extension.

Whilst notepad is good for these, you might find them easier to read in Wordpad, it gives a better layout.

if they included a htaccess file it will mean in 99% of the cases that they have some sort of dynamic rewritting in the php file. Naming it a .html will break that functionality

But like the people above said open it in notepad or wordpad or any other text editor that can handle plain text. (i like notepad++ for editing php files)
