Hi guys, i have a problem. I made backlinks for my website without www (for example mysite.com), but my site in google ranks better with www (for example www.mysite.com) for which i haven't made any backlinks at all. Should i continue building backlinks for mysite.com which already has some backlinks but ranks worse, or for www.mysite.com which don't have backlinks but miraculously ranks better? Thank you a lot, this means a lot for me! |

Keep creating backlinks for whatever you want it to pull up for. I would suggest you create anchor text backlinks for the keywords that you are trying to draw customers into your website with. For example, if you are trying to rank for the keyword widgets, then you want anchor text backlinks for widgets like this: <a href=”http://yourdomain.com”>Your Anchor Link Text Goes Here</a> I hope that helps! |

Do a 301 redirect of one version to the other (www. to non-www. or vice versa) and start building links to whichever one you decide to make the canonical URL. That just means the one you decide to make the "real" location you want people to always go to. Put the 301 redirect code in your .htaccess file in your root directory. I don't have it handy to paste here, but just Google "301 redirect code" and you'll be all set. John |
