Can anybody recommend a firefox plugin for this?

First thought is something which will automatically highlight a given word or phrase on every website or content you view.

Similar to the search highlight function, but to be run automatically. Maybe even manage different words or phrases.

The other, which would help a great deal, is something whereby you can highlight a sentence, paragraph or word etc. and save to a precreated 'swipe' file, of sorts.

Like if you were doing niche research, you may read quite a few articles, and it would be great if you could simply select the sentences or paragraphs which stood out and quickly save them to a simple swipe file for digesting later.

I've looked around for a couple of plugins which could achieve the above, but can't find anything. Anybody have any ideas?

    If I were you, I'd look for greasemonkey scripts to do this. It shouldn't be too hard to sort out. (greasemonkey allows you to put together javascript code to run on every webpage - it's be pretty easy to do it to every webpage to highlight the words you want.

    The 'saving articles' (submission part) might be a little bit harder, but you could maybe do something with google docs (add an extra button to each page using GM that can submit the document to google docs & you can edit it there, maybe in a pop-up).

    Thanks for the reply James. Great idea, I should probably search for a greasemonkey script.

    I'm not really looking to develop this myself, was hoping somebody out there already uses such a plugin.
