Do you think the us. or biz. extensions are good?

Are the us. or biz. domain extensions any good? If I have the exact keyword, will I be ok with one of these? They are all that is available for a keyword I want.

Thanks Glenn

It doesn't matter what extension you use, it all comes down to how well you optimize your site. If you do things correctly then you can rank well for any term with any extension. If the domain name you want is open then take it, don't let the extensions hinder you.

Haha, .COM's sell better, but not necessarily are the best in SEO.
I concur with @banless, I have seen people do pretty well even without a domain name(blogger, wordpress.com).

It is all in the content and SEO.

With regard to ranking, I have not seen any tangible difference. I think that the only issue may be a cosmetic one, because many surfers are more familiar with the .com TLD. In personal my experience doing split testing through AdWords, .com domains generally get more clicks than lesser known TLD's (like .info.) The difference in CTR is apparent, but not substantial enough to not buy a domain if you've found one for a keyword that you really like. You also will have less luck with type-in's, but that may not be an issue for you if your main goal is to drive traffic through search engines.

Based on what evidence? I have had .biz and .com rank well for competitive terms, as well as .nets. IMHO extension is irrelevant - what makes one universially available extension less reputable than another?

My experience is that all other things being equal .biz names do not seem to rank as highly as the other top level domains. My preferred order is .com, .net, .org, .info and .biz. I no longer buy .biz names but still work with them for customers.

I've no experience with .us names but for UK sites .co.uk names can work well.

I know that many people do not agree with me but it is my experience.
