What makes an effective squeeze page?

For those affiliate email marketers, what is your tick on making an effective squeeze page that will entice your visitors to become subscribers?

My ticks:-
- Simple design, no link to other websites
- Don't ask for too much information other than name and email
- How you could help them for being your subscribers, like daily email tips (together with promotional email to your affiliate link of course )
- Give freebies, like ebook
- Video to grab attention and provoke interest

How about other elements:
- Beautiful design, does it matter?
- Should you put links to your blog?
- Should you put any product information? Supposedly you want to collect their email so you can continue to send them follow up emails along with contents to promote many other affiliate products. The squeeze page should be as simple as possible?

From my experience, keep it simple as possible.
    1) ONLY need powerful and convincing words
    2) use attractive color or very visibility shape to direct them to enter their info
    3) possible include ~1-2 mins video

The critical thing is that you give the prospect an easy, intuitive way to give you a name and email address - no other options allowed. You get the info or they leave the page.

A message that connects with the avatar (whether it's curiosity-driven, fear-based or hope-inducing) and REQUIRES immediate action.

The design is secondary. Start simple. Then once it converts, ramp it up - if you feel compelled.

    - Keep it simple
    - Know the emotional triggers of your target audience
    - Provide something juicy of value - Position this in a way that eats @ their emotional triggers

    - Ask for an email. A name isn't really necessary IMHO, the less steps they have to do the better

    Hopes this helps my friend!

My next question is what you do to drive traffic to the squeeze page? I recently tried to submit some articles to ezine buy they say the link at my resource box (which is a squeeze page) is too simple and no content.

Add a Youtube video with a description that contains link to the squeeze page on it or create a blog that contains the link to the squeeze page so that they will approve it.If they still don't approve it try articlebase and see what happens

    Hi,

An effective Squeeze Page is one that has been.....TESTED enough times until
it has been proven that it can convert not only the right amount of visitors into
    subscribers but can also...

...Attract and convert the RIGHT people for your offer.

It's no good having a squeeze page that converts well into the 60% range if
most of those people opting in aren't really interested in what you have to offer
    further down your funnel.

You want to TARGET those people who actually have WANTS, NEEDS &
DESIRES and want solutions to their problems RIGHT now to pass through
your funnel and see your squeeze page.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble here but you'll only find out through TESTING
varied traffic sources and various headlines, designs etc etc.

That's just the way it works.

Simplicity works best. Just for nominal info and don’t make your page look like people are signing up for something scary – by that I mean don’t go overboard with the design. Keep it short, sweet and simple.

I agree with what others have said...The simpler and easier to navigate, the better results I see...I used to make these very detailed squeeze pages and my conversions were garbage...Just make sure you have an eye-catching headline and some good bullet points to keep your visitors engaged!

Simplicity has been the one biggest factor for getting 'larger than life' optins...

That of course, converted to sales

    For me

    Attention Grabbing Headline
    A Promise of Value
Get rid of the name on the Optin Form
    Micro Commitments
    Above Fold

And don't hype your Squeeze Pages, only dumbo's and lazy ass and not willing to take action falls for that one. Believe me you don't want that kind of leads on your mailing list.

    That worked for me

Why are you asking here? Go to LeadPages.net and read their blog and watch their videos. It's all they do and they know what they're doing.

      Ok, aside from that...

By definition, a squeeze page has just ONE purpose: to capture someone's name and e-mail address. Therefore, there should be NO other links on the page, except for possibly an "Enter site" button for those who prefer not to give their info. And that is ONLY for squeeze pages which are the home page of the site itself.

      A squeeze page should have:

      1. A clean, clear, professional design. Minimalism is key here.

      2. A video is NOT necessary. Jeff Walker of ProductLaunchFormula.com told us that video actually HINDERS his opt-in rates. Test it and see.

      3. A clear, compelling offer. This means good copywriting. Your freebie needs to have an enticing, mouthwatering title. Give a short, but compelling description. Even your button should have more than just "Subscribe" on it.

I've seen buttons which say "Get Free X Now!" or "Gimme My Video!" Stuff like that.

Make your visitors WANT that freebie.

      4. A good graphic of what they get. Visuals are important. Most of us are selling intangible things. So it helps to make everything as tangible as possible and that means good graphics.

So if you're giving a free training audio, have a graphic of a CD and CD case. If it's an e-book, make your graphic representative of a book, magazine or binder/notebook if that's what your freebie is in physical form.

It's all part of creating value for your visitors.

      And that's it!

For more details on good squeeze pages, spend some time at LeadPages.net. Read the blog. Watch their videos. You'll get quite an education.

      Hope that helps!

An effective squeeze page for me is one that gets me the most amount of qualified leads for the offer I am promoting. Headlines, design, all of that comes second. Even the ugliest squeeze page can work. It's all about the message on the page and how strongly that resonates with the exact audience you are trying to target. He who has the biggest optin rate does not win. Optin rate doesn't mean a whole lot. What you want to focus on instead is ROI.
