I have an offline advertising business that I am building and I want to try a system that, to my knowledge has not been tried yet with local retailers. I'm sure you are all familiar with CPA and how it works. Well I want to incorporate that same business model for local retailers advertising. Right now they all pretty much advertise in the local Pennysaver and pay an up-front advertising fee such as $200 per week or so. I want to establish a new pay system that will allow them to pay only for coupons redeemed. The problem is the checks and balance system. I can track how many coupons get downloaded from my website but I cannot think of a way to verify how many actually get redeemed except for taking the retailers word for it and you know they'll scrub coupons much like the CPA firms scrub leads. Any ideas on how I could implement such a system that would work? Thank You Pat |

you should have your coupon site more like a membership site. once they download the coupon put some message like "after you use this coupon, come back to our site and enter the coupon id and get 100 points" - so basically you create a points system and they can redeem the points for some cashback. you will have to run the numbers to see what kind cashback you can provide so that it doesn't eat into your profits. get the list of coupons used from the local business and run a check against your database. |

Hi Pat I think Blitzian has the right idea, make the customer provide feedback after using the coupon and provide them with a reward (like more coupons!). You could also have them fill out a small survey for additional rewards (i.e more valuable coupons). By doing that you'd not only know which merchants were in debt to you for coupon use, you'd also be able to build up a mailing list of coupon users and get some demographic information on them.
