I've only spent about a week reading/researching IM, one thing I am most curious of is what kind of investment you are putting in $-wise. I see many posts of "I made blah blah blah", but how much did you put in to achieve that ($wise not time)? I know it's very situational depending on a lot of different things and I don't know if I've been specific enough for an answer or an example would be great!

You can start making money with $0 and make $XXX it depends on how much effort you put in. You can pay $1000s and not make anything. Money doesn't grow on trees so you have to put some hard work and effort. There is no magic button that says press here to make money.

I'm aware of that but thanks for the response. Im not looking for a "how much money do I need to push into this to succeed", but I'm sure some people on here are investing some $ for their return (and ofcourse lots of time), I'm just curious would people say for example they are investing say 1/4 profit for promotion/etc..

That's a good question. Many don't think to ask that one and therefore are easy prey for scammers. Not saying all those who make big money are scammers; it's just that they aren't always up-front about their net earnings as opposed to gross.

You can get started almost for free, and some have actually started with no investment. To begin affiliate marketing, I invested about $150 and made that back in a few weeks' time.

It's true a lot of the hard-core IMers spend a lot to make a lot, probably using PPC, but it's not absolutely necessary. You can make a lot even if you use free methods of getting traffic and stuff.

Thanks Laura thats kind of the answer I was trying to get, I guess I wont get someone to shell out an example hehe. As for hard word, I currently work two jobs and am learning IM during my spare time as a potential 3rd, but I guess I am coming of as, "where is the moniez? how fast get?!"

LOL, but you have to try not to think about the money too much. Of course, that's why we're all doing IM/AM, but it really doesn't happen very fast. When it does, however, it can truly give you a total financial makeover, so to speak! So the key is patience and perseverance. Use solid, proven techniques rather than following fads, and you almost can't fail, as long as you KEEP AT IT.

Well to answer your question, it really depends on the method that is used. There are tons of methods that are 100% free, as well as methods that cost as little as $10 as an investment. And then there are methods that may have a $1000 investment for different costs.

The questions I have found is not how much you spend, but what you spend it on, and how wisely you spend it. I didn't spend anything starting out.. but it took me 2 months to make my first sale. Now, alot of that was the learning curve, and the fact that I did not work on it hardcore.

Once you figure out what works you can develop a system of your own that is effective. Eventually i graduated to buying hosting, domains, and such... And I am now at the point where I will use some of my earnings so far to use for outsourcing some articles (which, although I can do quite well, is hard for me and time consuming for many reasons). With this, i'll be able to spend more time promoting sites and doing technique, and hopefully pulling in more money.

My motto has become "don't spend any money until you know exactly what you should spend it on... and you KNOW it's gonna build your business "

Every IM business works, functions, operates and is structured differently. Some people start their business with no money out of pocket and some start with tons of money out of pocket. Ultimately it comes down to how everything is put together (pieces of the puzzle) and how a person wants to build their business model will you ever really know how much it will truly cost.

i.e. -is there domain's, auto-responders, accounts, fees, licenses, tools (online and offline), outsourcing, employees, taxes, programs, etc..etc...etc! These are just to name a few pieces of the puzzle that could or could not be a factor in how much it will cost.

      Hope that helps
