Is this new? Google now has image ads on Google.com Sponsored Links?

I've done a lot of searches over the past few
days... and a few minutes ago I saw something
that I've never ever seen before.

Do a search for: baby toys on google.com

Look at the top right above all the other ads.

There's one image of a baby toy.

EDIT: Also do a search for: necklaces for women

You'll see 3 image ads on the top now.

I've done several other searches and have
seen not one, but sometimes several images
above all the sponsored ads there.

Did I miss something - or is this brand new
just in time for the Christmas season so
Google can cash in on the online rush??

    I am researching this right now. I have a client who wants to serve those ads badly. I would consider a finders fee for a step by step guide to serving these ads.

    I noticed that earlier this week. I was looking for a physical product, and there were three image ads down the sidebar. It was there for every search I did.
