This is really quick. I've been using Google's keyword tool to find keywords and always chose the results in the Global Search column (previous year monthly results). Recently, I've read to use the Local Search Volume column (previous month results) to pick the best keywords. So now I'm confused. Is it best to use Global or Local results? I'm not sure I understand how each would affect your keyword choice. Or would it? Example: One keyword shows 880 local results and 6600 average monthly global results. That's a huge discrepancy. So which would be better? Thanks. Sylvia |

Global results includes searches from developing or underdeveloped countries also. You can't expect to make more sales from each and every country. It is better to sale in USA or Canada or United Kingdom.

Thanks Agentscully, Just a quick heads up. Actually, the search volume doesn't depict the level of competition. It's the number of sites that come up when you use those keywords. You can have very high search volume, but low competition. You have to check your competition by entering the keywords into a search engine and see how many results you get. The keyword tools show you how often a particular keyword is entered into search engines. And Local Search Volume is not restricted to your neighborhood unless you enter a location along with your keyword, like "weight loss washington dc". Even then, someone in Japan could be searching with that phrase. That's where the Global thingy comes in. Sylvia |

For example: if you are looking at something seasonal like Valentine's gifts in January, you will see very few results from the previous month (who sends them in December?) but the global results will show you that there are searches being done at a different time of year.
