I've only used free methods in the past because I'm worried about losing alot of money with adwords so before I set up any campaigns I was wondering how accurate is the Google Adwords Traffic Estimator Tool? The reason I ask is because when I put in my keywords which are VERY VERY competitive then I mark United States only the estimator tells me that I will get between 167-258 clicks a day for only 5 cents between 803-1176 for only 10 cents a click and between 2436-3484 a day for only 20 cents but every one talks about how rediculious Adwords bids are am I missing somthing? Or maybe they are and I should go for it? could someone with experiance with this tool let me know your experinces? Thank you

Not very...can be ridiculously bad really. However...it's the best we have...so, you make decisions with the data you have available.

The absolute only way to know is to do a test.

Unfortunately you have to worry a LOT about quality score etc. just in order to do a decent test...it can be a lot of work.

    Here's what I do...sometimes...to avoid the work.

    1. I go into the serps for the kw I want to test...and pick one of the top 10 site URL's
    2. I set up a test campaign for that kw with a decent ad and send the traffic to the site I picked above
    3. I set a budget of $10-25 or whatever I want to spend to get good data.
    4. Run the campaign for 1 day

this way I can SUPER quickly set up a test campaign and not worry a bit about QS (if it ranks high in the serps for the kw...QS won't be an issue)...I can immediately get data on bids, impressions etc.

Just one tool in the toolbox
