Default Foreign Language Translation

Do any of you guys have a suggestion for outsourcing foreign language translation of a website, Ebook, etc.?

For example, if I was selling cheese and a French prospect Googled "fromage", what is the best way for my website, Ebook offer, etc, to pull up in French?

Is there someone who I can outsource the translation too or do most of you add some sort of script to your webpage where the prospect can choose the appropriate language.

An Ebook would probably need to be fully translated into French by someone else.

I've used Google Translate and Babblefish but do not find them very good at accurate translation to make the website language more localized. English has many slang terms and odd ways of putting words together and last thing I need is to lose a potential customer because reading the web page, etc was a big joke!

Thanks all!

If you know how to use wordpress to set up your offer page (using the custom template feature in wordpress), you can install the global translator plugin to do the translations for you.

WordPress › Global Translator WordPress Plugins

I use the plugin on my blogs and it works great! I get tons of search engine traffic in different languages. I have yet to try it using a sales page set up on wordpress though, but I'm sure it will work just as well as it does on my blogs.

Thanks Dirk. It's how to go about finding that person to do the translation that is the problem. Maybe I can Google it find a freelancer who is willing to do so for a fee.

We have both a French and Spanish translator working for our company. The lady who does our French translation was born in France, and married to a Brit. The husband also does some translation and was a French Professor at the university in London. The Spanish translator was born in South America and married to a Brit.

I'm a freelance French translator, former university French prof and can tell you that online translators will not and cannot provide accurate translations because, among other things, they don't take syntax into account and they tend to be too literal, disjointed, unaware of cultural implications... If you just want to translate a page or web site for general reading, an online translator is OK, nothing more. If you need a translation for professional reasons, hire a professional translator. I could always and without exception tell when a student had used a non-human translator for his/her compositions.
