Default how do i link to non public parts of my host?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there is an easy way for my Websites/PDF's to link to the none public parts of my host.

The main reason is I don't want people seeing I have downloadable content which i am asking people to pay for in open public locations.

My first thought is to make the public folder and file names obscure i.e. random numbers. So it isn't easy to navigate.

my second thought is there a way i can set the server permissions so it is vieable only and not downloadable?

third thought was can i locate it in the none public host and some how set up a link system to it.

thanks for the tech help

You cannot link directly to anything above your public_html folder in a usual html anchor tag.

Try using a script to do that. I posted earlier about a free one...

In the first half of the year we are supposed to work for the taxman. I think that's a mistake.
Help me to get rid of the taxman ASAP - thanks! (You, too, should make less mistakes!)
