Ever Wake Up Ready To Conquer The World But Then...

You sit down at your computer and realize you have zero motivation to do anything related to internet marketing?

You would rather chop a hand off than write one more article...

If you hear the words SEO or backlinks one more time you could hurl...

You would rather poke your eyes out than read another "I'm broke please help" thread on the Warrior Forum...

You could go outside but you have no idea what to do when you get out there...

Any of this sound like you from time to time?

    Mike,

Yes, I have. The solution? Take a break. Walk away for a few days (or a few hours at a bare minimum). Don't read the forum, don't check email. Turn your computer off, and spend some time OUTside your office.

Breathe some fresh air, look around and actually focus on the world around you, and smile.

Of course! That's probably everyone from time to time...

I don't take days off normally. But when I have one of those days like you mention, I need to just stop and take a day doing something I really, really like to do but never have the chance to do. Or, just do nothing at all, and really enjoy it!

I suggest you go for a walk. Not to anywhere, just go. Lift up your head and look around. I see you're in Illinois. I am too. I don't know where you are, but if you look around, you can see beauty in damn near anything if you try hard enough.

Step away from IM for a minute and take a look around you. See the beauty.

Yeah its been cold and rainy the last 3 days which can be depressing as well. I live in Southern Illinois several hours away from you. I imagine Chicago gets cold, windy and wet alot.

I've only been there once for a convention...

      Thanks for your support!

Yup, cold, rainy, wet. It's been a pretty wet November here too. But go out with an umbrella and do this...jump smack dab in the middle of a puddle. Who cares if anyone sees you!?

        I guaranty you'll have a good time.

lol I know what you mean some times I even have nightmares of it and when I come and sit down I just do not even want to bother. Honestly taking a days break and just enjoying life will make a huge difference when you sit back down tomorrow. Id have to say my productivity goes up because of it.

I get like that too sometimes - I think we all have our moments. However, a convoluted string of circumstances mean that I'm using an archaic 14" monitor for a few days and it's proving to be very limiting, and I so can't wait for things to get back to normal so that I can get some proper work done. I don't think I've ever been so eager.

To reproduce this 'fired with enthusiasm' feeling for yourself, simply set your screen resolution to 800 x 600. After a day or so of scrolling left to right as much as you scroll up and down, resigning yourself to being unable to see most of your apps properly because they were never designed to be shown in a space so narrow and killing time by playing 'Guess Which Warrior Wrote The Post' (because if you scroll left one more time to see the name of the author you'll go cross-eyed, and it'll only mean that you'll have to scroll back again to read the next response in it's entirety), you'll be raring to get on with some real work. Backlink building will seem like the best thing since sliced bread, and SEO better than sex.

Actually, I think it would take less than a few days. A couple of hours ought to do it

I couldn't imagine trying to get work done on a 14" monitor at 800x600 resolution! My laptop is 17" @ 1440x900 and my desktop is 20" @ 1024x768.

I feel for you - I really do.

    Yup

    You're definitely not alone there.

Switch the negativity on it's head with the weather.. go out and run in the rain for a while, enjoy the weather instead of letting it get you down.

Nobody makes rules but you, isn't it?... go catch some rain, dude.

    Peace

Thanks for your thoughts. Yeah I have been doing this full time since 2001 so I am no stranger to scheduling, outsourcing and working diligently to get projects completed and things off my to-do list.

I just think that it is all catching up to me after 8 years...
