If I am in such an Emergency:

1.- I would sell my car to survive for a few months

2.- I would choose a niche market and find and contact the most influential people on that market

3.- I would interview them all and record the interviews

4.- I would start a private club where people pay monthly to get access to the private interviews

5.- I would sell the transcripts as a Ebook and physical book

That is what I would do.

    Cheers!

Then bring that up if you get a job interview. Don't pretend it doesn't exist - but acknowledge a bad job history and don't excuse yourself. Admit you were not a good worker and that you've learned from your mistakes.

If you will not have reliable internet access, a job is what you need for now but I know they can be hard to find. If you get a job, be a great employee and start correcting your bad history.

        Good luck!

          Hey Katya,

In a real crisis, I would borrow some money from family members, with a firm plan for payback. And I'd pay it back, no excuses.

Speaking of excuses, it may just be the way you're coming across in this thread, but it seems like your reaction to people's suggestions is that you find a way to make those suggestions NOT work. Are you closing the door on these ideas before you've really considered the viability of them?

You may need to think about changing your mindset a bit, so that you're not thinking 'this won't work because...." and "that won't work because..."

In other words, change the tape that is playing in your head to "Good idea. Maybe this can work if I ...."

Like I said, these little snippets that we see in a thread may not be representative - only you would really know - but the snippets kind of come across as a negative mindset.

Please believe this is meant as a positive, constructive criticism, not a negative judgmental one.

As someone previously suggested, sit down and get clear on your skills and abilities. Focus on the positive. If you expect a door to be locked, you won't even try to open it. Find those open doors. They're there.

          Hope this helps,

          Kat

Much of life can be "hard to do", so one must learn to do hard things in order to survive.

I know it is hard to find a job, and with unemployment over 10% in the US many college grads are now working at McDonalds.
The last hire they did in our town had a line of applicants going out the door. So easily finding a job just doesn't seem to exist anymore in some areas.

Since it isn't easy to find a job then you must do the hard thing and make your current job finding a paying job. That means 8 hours per day pounding the pavement, contacting friends and relatives for leads, posting for hire on craigslist and in local classifieds, etc.. Get out there and network. Post fliers for babysitting at your local stores and laundromats...
Be inventive in selling yourself. If you believe you are valuable then you can convince others that you are also.

If it gets bad enough you will have to hit the government up for food-stamps and such. There are also many government funded training programs around the world that will teach you new skills.

The thing is, now is not the time to look for the easy way. Hard has come to you, like it or not. You may have to add "doing hard things" to your list of personal assets.

The best of luck to you!

I would suggest you set up a service on 'Warriors For Hire' and overdeliver to your customers to get quick cash.

Do you have skills in writing, graphic design, link building or anything else? I would gladly pay the $20 fee for you if it's put to good use and helps you out, as well as servicing other warriors.

I'm in the same boat. My computer died, need a new car engine ,and my job status is in serious question (time for my evaluation and my job is looking to downsize). Right now I am working on finishing up my Christmas projects with a work computer and once I get that done, I will move on to some WSOs or work for hire projects to stay afloat. I have also gone online and submitted resumes.

I am also physically going out to stores and seeing if they are hiring. A lot of times places don't advertise but will place an ad in the store window.

Sometimes you have to face hard facts that you just might have to work a 9 to 5 until you can get your online ambitions off the ground. I agree with what someone else said as well... start looking into fast food places, though the hours may not be full-time, it's better than nothing.

You guys are being pretty mean. I have been way up and way way down and back up again. I do not know the pain you are going through but it is a really nasty world to face on your own without a friend.

I remember when my dad had a stroke and my divorce had destroyed every aspect of my life so much that not one person would lend me the money to fly to his side. I had not seen him for 10 years.

Stay strong girl, I am in transition but if I could help in a constructive way in the near future I will. Forget those that put you down , you are trying hard. Hang in there.

      Graham,

Would you point out where anyone in this thread got mean? Because I missed it.

I also don't see where anyone put her down?

I also don't see any examples of her "trying hard". That's not a put down or being mean - she just didn't say what she's actually done to get herself out of her "crisis situation". She says she tried to get a job and failed. That could be one store that she dropped by and asked if they were hiring for all we know or it could be every business within ten miles - we don't know either way.

I'm curious as to how the OP defines "crisis situation" - are you homeless or about to be? What changed to bring things to a crisis?

Advice could change depending on the definition.

You need to learn how to sell, mainly yourself (and no, not like some people suggest).

You need something that people want, and access to those people.

Forget tricks, gimmicks or fads. Provide something that is proving to make money for other people.

What can you do? What are you good at?
If you're desperate enough, the answers will come...they did with me, because I had no choice.

The beauty of online marketing, is that one answer can lead to another, and you can grow and grow (unlike cleaning toilets for a living, unless you start your own cleaning company...which goes to show, you can even get rich starting out by cleaning crap holes).

      ;-)

I have to apologize, did not mean to be a s***t a**. My own financial situation sucks too.

As far as self-confidence, don't got much of that either. However, this is what I discovered yesterday. Using google maps and realicing 9 out of 10 has not claimed their business, no photos, no coupons, no reviews.

I run across a business that charges $150 setup and then $199 a month.

If you need some quick cash, offer to do the business listing for maybe $200, add $$ fir creating a coupon, then add xxx fir 10 photos.

      Best of luck, Eva

[Disclaimer] No, I have no proof that this will work, however, IMHO it is worth a try]

I've been in this situation and even though I'm still cleaning up a few messes, I'm coming out alive.

First things first. Get your head together. It's not as easy as it sounds, I know. Channel all the anxiety and agitation into exercise - do something really rigorous, such as running. You burn extra energy, the exercise releases endorphins, you sleep better, and you get in better shape.

Apply for jobs, start a service such as babysitting, cleaning or lawn mowing, and if you have Internet access for only a few hours a day, think of zero budget ways you can build a zero budget business. Make the absolute MOST use of your time - step by step list, five tasks you can accomplish each day in an Internet cafe. Stick to your guns.

Read the what to do if you're desperate thread (linked above) if you need ideas. Good luck.

Secure a roof over your head and food on your table. Do whatever it takes to ensure this is taken care of. Work for minimum wage if necessary.

Once you have that, the pressure will be off and you'll be able to think a little more clearly. Trade your time for money online. Write articles or provide other services. Get a few dollars behind you and venture into free techniques like bum marketing. From there, build a list, create a product, build niche sites - whatever direction you want to go.

Sorry to hear you are in that situation... a lot of people have been there too.

      Here are some ideas :

      1. One way to get money is to have a yard sale and sell items that you are getting ready to toss away because you don't want them any longer.

      2. Go to a pawn shop and pawn some jewelry.

      3. Get cash surrender from life insurance policy.

      4. Paint faces on rocks and sell as paper weights.

      5. Do typing for fellow students or fellow workers for a fee.

      6. Learn how to fix or upgrade computers and charge according to how long each job takes you.

      7. Paint houses, fences, etc. and charge $15 to $25 and hour.

      8. Dig small trees from woods and sell to homeowners.

      9. Learn names of wild plants and plant in pots for sale.

      10. Roll newspapers up in logs, tie, dye and let dry... then sell (fireplace).

      11. Cut up old shirts and dresses and make pot holders out of them and sell.

      12. Cut square towels out of old tossed out clothes and sell as wiping rags.

      13. Gather driftwood from the beach areas and sell to craft shops.

      14. Paint old used wine bottles and sell as hand painted vases.

      15. Go house to house and paint house numbers on curbs for a fee.

      16. Take the lawn mower house to house to mow lawns for a fee.

      17. Offer to dig or spade gardens for local neighbors for money.

      18. Offer a dog walking or pet sitting service to people in your neighborhood.

Good luck to you and hang in there....

I would start by offering up more information as to your situation when asking for help. Some of the answers on here are great, but they could be tailored more to suit your circumstances. For example:

...are you looking for quick cash to pay off a bill? or is it more that you need to earn a weekly wage?

...do you have ANY money? or are you completely cash strapped??

My advice to you would be to remain calm. Be honest with yourself, and be realistic. Don't be tempted to spunk your money on any get rich quick schemes, as so many people tend to do.

Write a list of your talents, skills, interests etc - however small you may think they are.

Write a list of your finances, focus on immediate concerns and maybe even medium term plans.

Check your local classifieds/job boards and, again, write a list of ALL possible opportunities. Don't be too proud to get a job, and don't think that becuase you have a 'bad job history, or you have failed before that you will fail again!

Write a list of things that you could sell for instant cash! As per your signature, you obviously have a website. Why don't you flip it? For a small fee, you should be able to reap an immediate profit from that!

Pimp yourself out! ....and I don't mean that in any poor taste whatsoever!!! I simply mean that you must have friends, or family, or neighbours that require some odd jobs doing! Put the word about that you are available to help them with their chores. You will be surprised at peoples generosity when it comes to having help with certain jobs.

There really is a million ways to make some extra, and immediate cash! But you have to apply them to your own strengths and circumstances, which, given the lack of input on your side, I cannot comment further.

    Good luck with everything!

You will have lots of items around you that you can sell just start taking pics, if you are desperate for cash do a short auction 3 days but remember that they need to end at a time when most people are at home ie not at work and the kids are in bed.

This really will generate cash fast especially this time of year BUT Honestly you need to spend your time DOING rather than THINKING.

Spend an hr DOING for every 10 minutes you spend THINKING.

    Just crack on NOW

Let me know how you get on, if you need a hand setting it up PM me

    Good Luck

I notice you are in the Netherlands. If I was near Amsterdam or not I would do a 10-15 articles on tourism. Places to see etc. Would sell as Plr possibly in 2 different sets 1 with pics one without.
I would then Create a newsletter about Cafe's that your country is famous for and the party scene in Amsterdam. Would sign up with multiple pot forums,Techno forums,House Music Forum etc and would promote through forums that you signed up with. Play with pricing but figure no more than 3 bucks a month.
If you don't hate the pots scene I would create a 50 page report on the scene there. With a selection of cafe and there merchandise. Places to stay, Food Etc. Festivals Cover the whole scene. You have an advantage in that the competition will not be as tough. In the reports lots of pics.
I would take picture on every famous Building and put them on a royalty sharing picture site.
You write well so I would offer to do articles fairly cheap to begin with and then bump it up. Look for product in the make money niche. Try to get MRR and translate them into Dutch.
I would look at localized search in the Netherlands and see what are people are searching for and then would find a person who has an info product and offer to translate it to Dutch.
