Ezinearticles Question: Using an article on my website first?

I've read the editorial guidelines and, possibly owing to massive stupidity on my part, I'm still unsure.

Will Ezinearticles take an article I've written and used on my blog?

    I don't know Justin. I've been letting it get published on EZA first and then using it myself as a publisher. lol

      That was my original plan, but Ezinearticles is taking sufficient time that I think I'm going to start building my blog first.

    Absolutely. I do this for a number of my sites where I'm not just trying to drive traffic but trying to build a web presence. Instead of just having a squeeze page, I have a full blown site and I post EVERY article to the site first. Then I submit it to EZA. Google sees it on my site first, so I should get any 'bonus' points for being the originator of the content. Then when the article goes up at EZA I'm getting the traffic I'd normally get, plus the site that the backlink goes to actually has content to support it.

    Of course I have some other niches where I just link from the article to a squeeze page and don't have anything else. In those cases I don't post the articles on the site.

    Either way, never had any problems with EZA.

        1) Google generally indexes my site very quickly because I update it with articles often (because every EZA article goes there), because I have a lot of back links (from posting the articles), and because I ping all the RSS aggregators when I post to my site. It is indexed within a couple hours usually.

        2) EZA is slow as all get out. By the time they finally approve the article, Google will almost surely have indexed the page.

        I used to worry about this a lot. Now I just throw it out there and forget it.

    I do what Tiffany does... EZA first, site (sometimes) later. I don't have a site that can compete with EZA in terms of search engine rankings, though, so the decision is easier for me I suppose. I want the traffic, so I just post to EZA first and piggyback on their Google love.

    If there's duplicate content, the high PR site will get indexed while the lower site will drop to the back pages. I'm not sure if that's the case though, Google doesn't exactly publish their seo rules.
