Default Social Bookmarking Tools and Duplicate Content Question

I am beginning to think that Social Bookmarking tools like OnlyWire and AddThis are more of a problem than a help.

I often notice my social bookmarking showing up in SERP results....but for only one site...whether it be Redditt, Digg, Stumble, or jumptags.

If you mass submit the same bookmark....does Google treat them all as duplicates?

Would you be better off making a unique bookmark by hand at each social bookmarking site?

The answer to questions like this is - what would YOU think makes sense?

If you owned a search engine - how would you treat such things.

Ultimately you will usually get the same answer as they do.

It doesn't matter if you do it at the same time or not because I think it is higly unlikely that Google will spider the sites you submitted to at the same time. So your SB posts won't be indexed at the exact moment.

P.S: You see that they are indexed by usually one site because SU and DIGG and reddit are the most powerful ones of the social bookmarking bunch.

You are not using enough social bookmarking sites. No google does not treat anything as duplicates. You can submit the same bookmark to 1,000 sites if you so desire and yes they can be picked up pretty quick if you ping the profiles.

You would have better results if you actually logged into the social bookmarking sites and participated in the community, this is what they was created for.

This is why you see places like simpy have groups and why you see propeller have create a friends request and etc.. These places have these features for members to take part in the communities. If you never login the social bookmarking site itself then you will never get the full effect of social bookmarking..

How many accounts do you have set up. I am about to set up the wp plugin for onlywire and it has the ability for you to enter up multiple accounts. Is this a wise thing to have multiple accounts, does anyone know?

I consider social bookmarking helpful but I wonder if it is really helpful to set up multiple accounts on each bookmarking site. I know some people are doing this, right?

I only have one account at about 20 different bookmarking sites. And I know they get crawled at different times which enforces my point! If Google is crawling Digg and see's my bookmark....when it crawls stumble 20 minutes later and see's the same one....don't you think it will consider it as a duplicate? Have you seen the same bookmark at 2 different Social Bookmarking sites show up in the search results?

No it is not seen as duplicate but as syndication... Same as articles.

Yes there are search results that show the same bookmark at different sites... Same as articles.

You mean these sites were not created just to drive traffic to my Internet marketing campaign? You mean we are supposed to participate and provide useful information that people actually value? This Web2.0 stuff will never last, I'm gonna go back to spamming Usenet and IRC, that stuff had real value
