How long is your autoresponder?

I have a great idea to build a list and give them a 7-day ecourse to presell a product.

Question is, how many emails (if any) should I write after that?

While my guess is the first seven are priority, I don't want to simply drop them off after that, but at the same time have a lot of other stuff going and don't want to set up more work than I can handle.

Thoughts?

There's no right or wrong... some highly respected marketers will say send out a message daily for 7 - 10 days so that the subsciber learns to recognise you and then tone it down to 2 or 3 per week..

Yet I know another few great marketers who pretty much wait until they have something of value to provide (which often conveniently pre-sells something in the pipeline) and that's a cool approach too.

I think if your list is going to be your primary source of income then it's probably going to be the former of the two that works best...

But I'm sure someone will chime in later and say... test : )

I heard John Reese once recommend 1 follow up email every 3 days after the first week.

For most of my lists i start with 6 or 7 emails and then at least one a week after that just to maintain contact and build a relationship with my subscribers.

It´s important to keep a balance.I have done well with sending an email every 3-4 days, not only sales letters but useful information too.Sending only sales letters will get people to opt out.

one email for each customer every week,I think this is suitable. And also you should distinguish the important customers and unimportant ones. It's very necessary for you to pay more attention on the important ones.

This all depends on what brought the subscriber to your list in the first
place. What did you PROMISE them? The answer to this question is
very important because it's what defines your target list.

You want to fulfill that promise to them and most of the times you can
do it within 7-10 emails. I use a 7 and 10 email series for my
copywriting clients and they do very well with these.

AFTER people join their list then they can continue to send them emails
about updates etc. But the prospect lists gets the original number of
    emails.

I find the home business /MLM types products needs more emails (10-12)
than the typical product--but that's just my experience.

You want to start sending often and then slow down towards the end.
Like a rocket burns most of the fuel at launch time. I provide a schedule
in my manual on writing autoresponder series.
