Default Book authors-I need advice...pretty please +Success Story

Hi all,

I'm so absolutely thrilled today. Because of WF and all the people that said "Take Action!"

Well I took that advice and now have proof of my work. I am a new author of the first of several books.

So I published just a short book through Create Space. I received my proof copy today and I am thrilled with the book.

My book is called - Flea Free and I know this would be a suitable niche for a website.

So this is my question(s)

Would you create a web site to promote the book?

And, would you offer the book as a pdf on the website?

What are some creative ways to market an actual book? And I know I'm bad but I don't have a list yet- but I will build one because I have plans to write another pet related book.

Any tips would be great!

Failure is the path of least persistence. - George M. Van Valkenburg, Jr

Congratulations! Nice work. I read the blurbs for Flea Free in your sig. I'd say there's definitely a market for a natural flea repellant. And yes, I'd put up a site if I were you.

With the book written, the journey has just begun. From here you need to become a marketing and promotion machine, well not so much of a machine that your family forgets what you look like, but if you want success you’re going to be busy.

I've self-published four books and loved every minute of the entire process. The biggest eye-opener for me was believing that writing was the hard part. Not even close. Marketing and promoting your title is the challenge in a market crowded with celebrities and politicians and crime and politicians. Oops, getting redundant.

More than 100,000 new titles appear every year and have only a few weeks on the shelves unless they sell. I don't know if you're going after bookstore action but I'd probably focus more on placing the book in front of your specialty audience than in a bookstore, at least to start. You might look into getting a mailing list for vets and pet stores.

I sold a lot of books on real estate investing as a guest on various radio shows. Your book certainly lends itself to that type of promotion. Pets and natural or green remedies are both hot topics and radio talk shows are always looking for interesting guests. They need you as much as you need them. There are a couple of books you’re going to want to get. One is, 1001 ways to market your books: for authors and publishers by John Kremer. You couldn’t do everything in this book in three lifetimes so you’ll want to pick the marketing that works best for you and go to work. The other is Jumpstart Your Book Sales by Marilyn Ross. This is another book loaded with stuff you’ll want to do. Good Luck!
