I think it doesn't matter. We should still follow the rules. It's all about being a responsible business. Plus, if your hosting is in the US, or your shopping cart, or any of the other myriad business connections you have to the US, it would pay to be diligent. |

Court Orders Spammers to Give Up $3.7 Million "The case, filed by the FTC in October 2007, marked the first time the Commission invoked the US SAFE WEB Act, a federal law designed to protect consumers from cross-border fraud and deception. The Act enhances the agency’s ability to exchange information with foreign counterparts and helps protect consumers from cross-border spam and spyware distribution, as well as Internet fraud and deception. The FTC’s complaint charged eight defendants – Spear Systems, Inc., three other corporate defendants, and four individuals." | |

this does not affect you directly, but think of this, all the search engines, based in the US are working to make sure their search results are compliant, therefore, you will probably need to make an effort at least.

Thank you to all of you who have replied to my question. I personally believe that honesty is very important when we are doing business. I would like to understand the rules better so that I will be able to make informed decision. I agree that the big websites like the search engine and more will also follow the rule and it will also indirectly affects marketers outside of US. I have read information regarding testimonial. How about stating the potential results that customers will get from the product in the Headline and content of the sales letter in the website? Will that be also affected by the FTC rule? Thank you for helping ![]() Zack |
