Hi all,

I am starting to get targeted traffic to my site through article marketing and have also go a few opt in's. I have not got google analytics tracking code loaded onto my site yet and think this is my next stage.

Do other members have this and is it vital for stats and rankings. Also have checked it out and is it just what it says. Copy and paste just before the body tag of each page you want ranking?

Cheers

Craig

I use Google analytics and Google Webmaster tools on all my sites. If not Google's, then you need some analytic tool on your site. Analyzing what is working and what is not is critical if you want to survive. I spend a full day every week just analyzing traffic patterns, keywords, bounce rates, etc.

      Do it ASAP

I have a ton of sites with analytics setup and it has been very helpful.

example...I recently setup a new site for a high traffic keyword. Haven't even hit the first page yet, but with 100 or so visitors I found a recurring question that will be an easy no competition clickbank product for the niche.

    Test, test, test.

    Track, track, track.

And that is what Google Webmaster Tool and Analytics Tool will allow you to.

Unless you are absolutely sure you are getting everything right, these tools (did I mention free?) are a godsend.

    Use them!

I use all of the Google tools and have GA on all my sites. However, GA is not 100% accurate and absolutely can NEVER be 100% accurate. In fact GA will miss quite a bit of data.

GA is good, but your server logs are where you can mine the most gold.

    Hi Craig,

Having Google Analytics (or any other traffic monitoring tool) is a must. You'll be surprised how much info you'll get from it.

If you're using WordPress, you could use a tracking plugin or you could manually insert the tracking code in the theme footer file.

Google Analytics + Google Website Optimizer = SUCCESS!

I don't know how else to say it, testing and tracking is the most important aspect of my business. This allows me to be more efficient, effective and grow and expand my business at an alarming rate.

You could use something else besides Analytics if you want, though that is what I prefer. It is just very important to be tracking everything so you can see what is going on and are able to make changes accordingly.

Basically, what it does is that it analyzes
    basically EVERYTHING about your visitor.
So if you want to know detailed statistics,
map overlays, or ANYTHING. Then use Google
    analytics.
