Default Keyword.net `or` keywordstore.com, Which would you go for ?? Pls advise

Hi guys,

Just a quick one, I`ve already bought quite a few domians already and i always go for .com no matter if i have to add `store` `online` `site` on the end !

But today i was looking and thinking how much does it really matter, I can get my www.keyword.net,org no problem

or... i can have www.keywordstore,site,online.com.

Which would you go for and why ??

Cheers Jim

I don't have any problems with using dot NET. It is just as recognizable as dot COM.

For business use, I would go with dot com. My domain is .net, but it has worked ok as well.

I go for anything that is .net or .com usually. Those of course are the two most recognizable....

Figure, if someone who knows nothing about computers sees something like .ws or .me they might not realize those are used for web address... As where .net and .com is like instant credibility in some aspect.

For commercial use,I still think .com is the best and most suitable.People still prefer to visit and remember .com domains. For other extensions, you may spend more energy and time to promote them.

This depends. Is your primary keyword being searched for EXACTLY as it would be in the .net?

If so, I'd go .net all the way.

Always try to get the .com, but not if it means that you have to modify a keyword phrase that's receiving a decent amount of traffic to get it.

Example, say you've done an exact match keyword research and found that "little red widgets" gets 2000 searches per month.

Next, you do your domain search and find that the .net and .org are available, but not the .com unless you modify it as you did above.

Always take the .net or .org because Google will give you SEO love for having the exact match domain name. This is most effective with .com, .net and .org.

I think the content of a website is way more important then the domain name, and Google has the technology to differentiate a genuine content site from a spammy site.

Having said that, if the .com version is still available, I would choose that one over a .org or .net, even by adding certain suffix at the end of the desired domain name.

Depends on your market: If you're just aiming for one country, I'd choose a country-code TLD instead. It's more trusted (than a .com/.net/etc.) for the citizens of that country, since it's generally only available to residents of that country (so they know you aren't some fella sitting in a basement at the far side of the world). Of course, that restricts you to registering a domain your own country only. But... there are lots of (very) high-value general keywords left in the ccTLD field, so it's still worth looking at.

If you're aiming for a general audience across the Internet, I'd choose keyword.net. Even though everyone says otherwise, in my experience, ceteris paribus, both keyword.net and keyword.com both seem to rank better than keywordsomethingelse.net/.com.

That said, given the low cost of non-ccTLDs nowadays, if there was any doubt, I'd probably take both.

Regards,
Tommy.

I don't think it matters much.

Really, I don't think it worth wasting too much time on.

If you are not going to be getting a lot of traffic from telling people your website is www.domain.com and are going to be getting traffic from links - be it search engines, ads, etc...what does it matter if it's a .com .net or .biz etc.

I remember when I looked at kiosk webhosting.

They used something like kiosk.ws and they did fine with it. I don't know if they still use that or not.

If your traffic will be 100% search engines/PPC, either .net or .com is fine. If people may someday repeating the site's name to one another or typing it in themselves, use a .com.

Also if you advertise in other ways like with business cards, newspaper, billboards, auto decals, etc. , always go with the .com.

For affiliate stuff it does not matter much. I have used .biz though I would be hesitant to use .info ...

I have had the same luck getting .biz to page as one with .com I am more interested in the keyword phrase in the domain name. I often shoot for competitive niches.

I would use keyword biz in available over keywordstore com
