Default Newbies - search first , ask later?

I'm fairly new on here and last night i asked a question about urls and got some great replys - but - if i'd bothered to search the forum first, i'd have got some great info. without cluttering the board with yet another newbie question.

The same questions tend to get asked all the time - old topics - so what i'm trying to say is - search for the old topics to get the more comprehensive info. - if that doesn't cover it or you need an up to the minute answer THEN ask.

who wants to see the same old questions and answers being continually repeated? this is a top forum but it could become a victim of its own success - spammed by us newbies!

I have heard it termed as "information vampires".
They can suck the life right out of a forum with their repeated requests for readily available information. I have often seen the same question posted one after another by various people.
After awhile it gets to where the main answers for questions is "go search" as people get tired of seeing the same old laziness day after day.

It's good to see you recognize this.

Well, the thing that bothers me is that you have to wait 30 seconds between each search.
I don't really understand why that is necessary.

sounds like good advice mate, take time to look around before asking a stoopid question, something I have been guilty of in the past lol

If you use the "Search Forum Using Google" function you won't get that 30 second limit. Its the last choice at the bottom of the search menu.

Plus, I found the results more accurate. Almost always I have another window open and there I just type - site:warriorforum.com search-keyword

In the first half of the year we are supposed to work for the taxman. I think that's a mistake.
Help me to get rid of the taxman ASAP - thanks! (You, too, should make less mistakes!)

That's why I like the War room, every thread is of great value and original. Really glad I spent $37 or what ever it is on 20 years membership!! I wonder if in 20 years time they will ask me for another $37!!

I agree! Usually what is searched and found for can be much better than a new thread that is rehashed because most of us warriors have been there done that and will not want to waste the time giving up valuable gems 2,3,4 times or more and that is how I feel.

I think the real reason some noobs start new threads though is to get their post count up ...

Oh 4got to mention the best ebook/info you will ever find is a subscription to the war room lots of frebie info books, software and advice tips secrets many that are cutting edge that you will not find in the regular forums.

Yep, i joined the war room last night to get away from the spammy stuff and see what the fuss was about (don't think about joining- just do it) .
But the main forum is the place to ask questions. Just don't like seeing it cluttered up as it would become a wasted asset.
