Hey all,

I made a post a couple of weeks ago looking for a mentor. Several people PM'ed me, but then didn't even reply back to me after my initial response back.

No worries.

Maybe the whole "I need a mentor" thing doesn't especially jive with people because the potential benefit is so ambiguous. So, let's change the request: Train me to be an affiliate of your product/service and I'll gladly promote that product as well as publicly sing you praises for helping me with my success.

Look, I don't want to be a difficult project for anyone to do pro bono work. I consider myself smart and able, I just need some help with putting this together right.

Nice idea but most people here tend to teach themselves. My advice is to get started on your own using all of the free information available here. Don't be afraid of a little trial and error. You can ask for more specific help as you go along.

Thanks, everyone. The written word is so hard to adequately convey what I want to express. I'm not looking for a free handout or to have someone magically sprinkle pixie dust on me to make this happen. I've tried my hand at this for nearly a year without any tangible results. I guess I'm at my wit's end when I see stories about people doing something for three months and having a $1K day or something similar and I can barely scrounge up single digit traffic.

I'm not whining or looking for an online buddy. I'm just looking for that small insight to what I'm doing to nudge this in the right direction.

I really wouldn't want you to be my affiliate if I couldn't train you first . I am currently reworking my entire business but should have some of my new products available in a couple of weeks .

My old products have made a good living for me and my affiliates . I am only in the first round of testing on the new stuff but it seems to be a lot better converting than the old stuff.

I just read this entire thread. I like the fact that there are many on here who take the time to train their affiliates. As many have said, what is good for their affiliates is also good for them.
I must admit when I read post of people saying they are making $1000.00 a day I am a bit skeptical. More so when they say buy this product and it will teach you how to make what I make in a day. I immediately start to think is that perhaps how they are making their $1000.00 a day.
However I feel the people who are willing to train their affiliates are a lot more creditable. I am still in the research stage with my project looking for the best way to market it. But you can bet when I do get it going and start looking for affiliates I want to be one of those who trains their affiliates.

I think you should buy a product from someone who seems like they know what you are doing. Don't buy an ebook, though, but rather buy a course where you can ask questions and get answers. Follow the course and ask whatever questions you have. Keep working on it until you succeed.

This is pretty close to mentoring. Much more reliable than what you are trying to do, if it is someone trustworthy. And much cheaper than paid mentoring.

Get a course from the WSO forum or somewhere else that has good reviews.

I've learned a lot of good stuff that way.

If you really don't want to buy a course try the thirty day challenge. The forum there is pretty helpful.

I totally disagree. The OP may be going about asking in an unorthodox way,
but there are some high powered marketers here already offered help.

Kevin Riley's affiliate center is about as good as it gets for affiliate
training. If you can't learn it there - then go to work for McDonald's
or somebody.

While I don't know anything about Jeremy Kelsall, I have read his posts,
and if he's willing to teach, I say "go for it"! He definitely appears to know
his stuff.

As for Kevin Riley, I'd pay for his training if I had to, just to be a part of it.

And yes, Travis Sago at bummarketingmethod.com has an excellent course
on selling affiliate products through article marketing.

There are many more people on this forum highly qualified and capable of
getting the OP started down the right path, so I say they are in the right
place to be looking for a mentor.

It was right here on this forum that I got hooked up with Willie Crawford,
and that relationship has been responsible for making me many thousands
of dollars in the last 5 years.

I didn't mean to imply anything negative about the marketers who responded. I am sure they provide excellent training as does Travis (I took his course as well).

But it was my impression that the OP had already tried getting help for free and that it wasn't enough for him.

And I was suggesting that he would get more hand-holding from a paid product. I was saying this based on my personal experience.

But I could be wrong.

Yea I do suggest getting a few WSO and learn from them. Ofcause you have to pick the right ones, there are alot of junk wso(s) out there. But at the same time, there are LOTS of great wso for you to learn from. Course wise, commission blueprint2 will be a nice choice since it received a lot of praises, Commission Blueprint 2.0 Read a few posts here to see, and obviously you have to do more research on your own as well. But as a few above suggest that you need to get into a course or a program that will be able to guide you.

As an affiliate, its better to research for products you actually like or endorse, and then research who is creating the products.

Take some initiative!

I think he is not able to send any PM as at now just like me. It will take the people offering help to send a pm to him with details how they can be contacted.

I must agree getting a step by step directions from someone real time is very crucial. I have tried many things in ebooks and affiliate training centers and I make mistakes, small mistakes and the process fails to work. Then I try asking and since people are busy I get no response. I google and get all confused, it is hard but you cannot give up.

As a beginner, he probably doesn't have a clue what is, and what
isn't a good product to endorse, nor anything about the producers

I've got no problem with it at all. I grew up on a farm in
Tennessee and my Mother made her spending money selling
milk, butter and eggs.

As long as people are buying it, I'll sell it - to a point. I won't
be a part of anything illegal, and no porn, but other than
that, I'm pretty well open.

Matter of fact, I prefer "consumables" that are used up quickly
or have a "shelf life" because people have to buy them
over and over again as opposed to a one time sale of an
ebook they only have to buy once.

Food items, vitamin supplements, spices and herbs, weight loss
products... all come to mind, especially during the Holiday season.

These products can add up to a nice recurring income if you
can get in front of the people buying them, and the market for
most of this stuff is huge!

I sighed for this and let me tell you it is powerful. I wish I had this when I started. I still will use it now.

Full training for free. Grab it if you feel you do not have information overload. Otherwise if you have something then focus on it until you kill it or it kills you( if does not work quickly change tactics)

Unfortunatelly that's becoming harder every day.

What you MUST learn:

keyword research ( purchase Micro Niche Finder or Market Samurai)

writing keyword optimized articles (or web pages)

on-page website optimization

link building


When you can find profitable keywords, write some optimized content,
build optimized pages and build backlinks on your own, you will be able to
generate targeted traffic.
Monetization is the easy part.
