Default This is what gives Im'ers a bad rap...

Hey everyone,

I found an article in the LA Times written yesterday. It's sad that a few screw up everything and make it harder for the rest of us....

Congress is cracking down on Internet marketing companies -- latimes.com

That is illegal in SO many ways. Data wasn't encrypted, the customer didn't give permission, they weren't notified, the private info was sent to another company. ALL could lead to fines, etc... ESPECIALLY in certain states in the US. There is a US law, and mastercard/visa/amex/etc... rules but ALSO some STATES have STRICTER rules.

And BANKS are doing the SAME kind of garbage. The BANKS are offering EVEN people with a CREDIT on their bills checks that, if cashed, they will then start STEALING money! I mean if a bank owes me $1000, and sends me a $250 check, I have to read EVERYTHING because the check is probably a loan of sorts that says I have signed up. It IS fraudulent and deceptive, and generally amounts to a discount made to look like a check.

Yeah but the banks seem to be able to get away with ANYTHING now days! I hate banks.

I really am glad that Congress will try to clean things up, but I just think it is very sad how a few companies can ruin it for the rest of us.

That's too bad - and for sure going too far.

...IM'ers never did have a great rep to begin with so I wouldn't worry too much.

Yes, I agree, that is way out there and those companies need to be taken down. That is ridiculous.
