Default PLR: To Dabble Or Not To Dabble?

This weekend and early next week I'll be finishing up some writing for clients, and after that ... I'm thinking about putting together some PLR packages for some of the hot niches I keep hearing about (I'm dreadful at picking paying niches, lol). I was thinking Money, Sex, Health (weight loss), and Parenting.

What I'm wondering is this: should I limit the packages, or not? For example: if I write 5 short reports, and bundle them into a package for $47 would those of you who buy PLR want the number sold limited? and if so, how limited?

Similarly, if I chose not to limit the number of sales, what would those of you who buy PLR expect to pay for the bundle?

I've never done writing specifically for PLR before, so I'm a bit unsure how all this is supposed to work. Any tips would be appreciated.

Tina

I doubt you could charge anything like $9-$10 per article unless it was extremely well written and extremely limited. Like maybe 10 copies max. Most high quality PLR goes for about a buck an article and is limited to maybe 100 copies. Nicole Dean's EasyPLR comes to mind. I know Tiffany Dow sells a lot of PLR too.

I've paid as much as $2 per article, but it was a technically challenging niche and the articles were limited to 25 copies, if memory serves. I've also seen more run-of-the-mill stuff with a high limit go for as little as a dime an article.

John, I wasn't talking "articles" here. I'm talking short reports/ebooks. Will that make a difference?

Ahh, sorry, I missed that part in your OP. Long day. Yes, it will make a difference. I'm no expert, ok, so ask around, but I believe about $1 per page is a good rate for PLR ebooks/reports. More challenging topics probably fetch more. The basic rules still apply, regardless... higher quality + more limited copies = higher price

Pick relatively broad niches and find a hot product as well, write packs around a hot new product that you think a lot of people are promoting, sell them in packs of 3 or 5 and limit the # of copies you'll sell--then you can jack the price up

If they're really good, maybe a pack of 3 for $15 or a pack of 5 for $25 or something and limit the # sold to about 8-10

I've dabbled in plr also, I stuck to the pet niche because it's my area of expertise. You may have better luck with the niches you've mentioned, I've found it not at all profitable. Great feedback from the buyers I had, very good quality articles, keywords and very limited numbers indeed, and still wasn't worth my while writing it.

I went through a process just for fun where I priced my plr at various prices, going down and down, and I couldn't get it cheap enough to make it of interest. Like I said, maybe it's the niche.

I've gone back to writing custom content. Much more profitable in my experience.

Hiya Tinkerbell,

I think Mayo has a point, it might help if you gave us a little more detail to work from.

PLR can have a vast range of pricing - depending on the target audience and target client as well as supply demand issues and the complexity of the subject.

In my experience, selling PLR and making any money at it can be tough to start. You have to build your brand, and build a list you can notify when you've written more PLR. I also recommend you have a "homebase" website to sell the PLR from. The money gets better and better as you go.

The smaller packages sell better, at least for me. So I would recommend you sell the reports individually, and offer a discount if they buy the 5pack. I agree with John, the going rate is about $1/page.

Good luck.
Peggy
