Hi Warriors

I'm interested in your thoughts on what makes a great resource box for a site like EZA. What are the triggers to put into a resource box that will make a reader click on the anchor text?

Obviously the article has to be compelling enough for the reader to get to the end of it, but what makes them click?

I feel for me this is the final piece in the puzzle for my article marketing and would love some guidance.

Thanks

Hi Jenni,

I've had good results by leaving a "part of the puzzle" out of the article. So you write a great article, but that only gives part of the information they need. Then in your bio box tell them exactly where they can get the extra information (your site).

Even if its just for completeness, a lot of readers will click through.

Make sure your link is right at the beginning of the resource box, rather than near the end, and use a trigger word as word one. For example:

Free guide: "Getting Rich in 7 Minutes" from author Ben Dover outlines the 2,948 simple steps to getting rich selling cheese on the Web. Ben is a master cheese taster and writer who has penned 14,976 articles on the subject of cheese wealth, most of them written while he was asleep.

Are you writing the article hoping to get someone to click or are you doing it more for the anchored backlink? I write more to get anchored backlinks and tailor the resource box so I can get the Keywords I want anchored.

Bottom line it must include a call to action. I almost always include "Visit...." or "Click here..."

If you have a freebie then include that as well in your resource box, make sure it's relevant to the article and you're done.

Here is my old resource box and new one.

The new one is working real well for me.

-----This is my old resource box------

"Matt Bacak began investing his first earnings at the tender age of
12, a young businessman in the making. Now, 15 years later, Bacak
survived failed businesses, botched partnerships, heavy credit card
debt and bankruptcy - all in preparation for the accomplishments he
has achieved today as a well-established Internet millionaire and
best-selling author.

-----This is my new resource box------

"There are many strategies to making money on the internet, but
nothing makes sense unless you have a big list. Email Marketing is the
most profitable way to make money on the internet. When you build a
list of hot and hungry prospects you control your future. Discover how

--------

Notice the difference... The new one was changed to make it feel like you
are still reading my article when you get to my bio aka resource box. The old
one made people feel people that it was the end of the article.

You need 3 things for a really superior Resource Box, in my opinion:

1. Ask a question that relates to the content of the article they just read and that appeals to some selfish (in the good sense of that word) need they have.

2. Give an unequivocal answer to that question that highlights what you offer on your site. Put a link to your site in this answer, making the clickable text (anchor text) a keyword you want to rank well for.

3. Repeat in strong terms the call to action with a final sentence that tells the reader to go to your site for a solution, and post another link to your site using the full URL. Or, if you have another site or page on the same site that relates to the article, use it for the link.

Example: Are you looking to increase the traffic to your site? Visit my site right now to find the answer to getting more website traffic (this is your anchor text). Just go to http://yoururl.com to learn more.

Common Mistakes: Using the space for bio info. Unless you're famous, no one really cares. Making the Resource Box too long. 2-3 sentences is all you need.

Thanks for the tips. My resource boxes that follow this outline so far have been performing best.

I like this format better than the ones that start with "John Doe is an avid _____ expert" that you see often.
