What is the best way to bing a blog with a new posting???

I'm setting up and experimenting with a small blog network and i'm not sure the best way to ping my blogs to get indexed.

For example I have wordpress blog. Should I ping the blog itself, the new article or both.

ie my blog url is

My Blog

and the article url is

http://myblog.wordpress.com/2009/11/19/newarticle/

So my question is every i time post a new article should I ping the blog url, the article url or both urls???

And I guess the same answer would apply to diigg, stumbleupon etc

Pinging your blog with pingomatic.com should do fine the main url that will send the troops in to index your site asap.

Thanks Sean, so you think with each new article just ping etc the main url not the individual article urls is best?

I use pingler.com and pintomatic.com every time I post something new on my blog.
So I recommend pinging every new article you post, same goes with SB.

I use pingomatic as well and have it set to ping for every new post I make. When the search engines crawl your main url they will find the new post you made ensuring it too will get indexed.

Looks like from feed back here that the best way is to ping/digg/stumble individual articles not the blog itself.

I notice when staring a new WP blog, that "http://rpc.pingomatic.com/" is already in the "Update Services" box, under Settings/Writing configuration page when you're logged into your blog as Admin.

So does one still need to manually take the trouble to go to pingomatic.com and do a manual submit after every new blog entry?
