Articlebase Stoops To New Low

Not sure when this change went into effect but Articlebase now presents an entire page of Adsense ads before you ever see any article content. These pages now look wose than any MFA site I used to make...and that's saying something!

If you haven't seen this change yet yourself, be sure to have a look to what they're doing with your articles.

It does look a bit like overkill. I guess they are more concern on getting adsense clicks than displaying our articles.

98% of the article directories are more concerned about getting those ad clicks.. It's a trade off that some see as good while others see it not so good..

Depends upon how you look at it..

That is because they know that alot of people are jumping from EZA to them and they want to capitalize. Soon they will probably take EZAs spot when it comes to search engine placement.

Because those directories aren't making it to page one on Google for anything worth ranking for.

I also "beg to differ" the smaller directories are often over looked, some of them are real diamonds in the ruff.

Actually, this is the layout I saw when I checked - which is even worse. It's literally all Google Adwords Ads.

      If you post there...enjoy!

That could be due to your screen resolution why they show that way ... But I agree it is over-kill..

Either way, they ensure you get a facefull of ads before you see any article content.

Google will stop it. They have 5 ad groups on one page. Last I knew you could have 3.

Think I somehow down the line thought my brain to completely ignore google ads so never really noticed. Now that you mention it you realize they kinda went insane. I wonder how much of a clickthrough increase they see from cramming in that 5th google ad group

Unless they've made a special arrangement with Google. Google allows certain high traffic volume sites a certain amount of leeway when it comes to "da rules".

Oh and this is the reason why you don't play the article directories game of fame and instead make your own site that holds you own conent. My speculation is that article directories are becoming outdated. AND Good riddance when they die off!

This is why you go to article directories that have no ads.. As far as them going to die off.. Nope, that is not going to happen because there are some that will survive and improve. Technology is changing and many article directories need to change with it.

Those that don't will die off...

I think they just removed those big ads up top. Hopefully it stays that way... I was just starting to really like using them as one of my primary directories...

Somebody has got to pay AB's bills. Seriously, I avoid article marketing in the big online directories. For me personally (not necessarily for everyone), it's not worth the trouble.

So odd, when I just viewed about 10 articles at articlesbase (both old and new), and none of them look like the ones scraped onto this post. They all look like they have for ages (i.e., no adsense block at the intro).

Someone said above all this article directories want their ads to be clicked. Well said! Do you think they let us publish on their directories because they love us? Do you think they give all these tips on how to optimize our articles because they want to teach us how we can rank our articles on Google?
NO! They want us to do a good SEO job so that our ranked articles will get them Adsense clicks. How many of us have CTR's > 10%? Where do you think the other 90% clicks go? I would think that at least 30% would go to those ads.
But now surely, discouraged authors will stop writing for Article Base! They better have a plan for that!
    Chucky!

    It is a little tacky.

It isn't easy making money with an article directory these days though.

Probably over 99% of submissions are spam or otherwise junk.
