Default I've lost my favicon.ico! Can anyone help me find it?

I changed one of themes on a customer's wordpress blog today and now I already have 8 of these messages in my mailbox over the last hour and a half since I did the dire deed.

Quote:
A user tried to go to http://xxx.com/favicon.ico and received a 404
(page not found) error. It wasn't their fault, so try fixing it.
I have spent the last hour going through every file on the server trying to find this wretched thing. It's not in the theme's images folder, it's not in any of the files period.

Can anyone help? At this rate the mailbox will be full to overflowing by midnight. Or sooner.

I googled favicon.ico/ (with and without the backslash) - found lots of places to generate them, but no reference as to how to fix this problem.

Any help would be so gratefully appreciated!

I am afraid that your favicon gone when you were in the process of replacing the theme so its always a good idea to make a bcakup before doing any changes

here is a pluging that will help you setup a favicon on your blog

WordPress › Admin Favicon WordPress Plugins
hope this helps

Come on, people... you don't need a plugin for everything.
Whether the favicon is displayed or not is defined in the theme's header.php file.

Just put this line ABOVE the </head> tag somewhere:
<link rel="Shortcut Icon" href="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_directory'); ?>/images/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

Make sure you upload your favicon into the images folder of the theme (or edit the path to reflect the existing location)!

In the first half of the year we are supposed to work for the taxman. I think that's a mistake.
Help me to get rid of the taxman ASAP - thanks! (You, too, should make less mistakes!)

Lately, I have just been putting my FavIcons loose in the public_html folder, and they have been appearing just fine. ;-)

HTH,
Tink
