Best Twitter Strategy?

First of all, if you're going to plug something in every single post, you might as well give up now!

Post items of interest that many folks will enjoy, not just links to your stuff. Put your website and info in your profile. If you don't have it, get a picture up too. The "Tweetie Bird" turns folks off. (Like you're trying to hide something.)

best thing you can do id get all the thought s of automation out of your head,

sit down for 1-2 hours a day, and tweet about your topic, use search.twitter.com and retweet and reply to others in your niche, start building relationships and networking.

answer your DM's and your @ replies.

use you @replies to talk to others in your niche.

You know I am a little stuck on this one myself. I have one account I use for affiliate marketing however I just started up a 2nd under my real name in which I want to keep it professional however Should I be adding a ton of people and getting them to follow me like I do with my other account or being more reserved with this one and allowing my members to follow me and visitors to my site?

  Build - Build and then Build some more. Twitter loves Real People. They are just starting to weed out the autobots and spammers (which is a good thing).
  
  I've been using twitter for a while and never really had the ambition to use multiple accounts. I just used my name (easy for me to remember).
  
  I'll usually post 10-12 posts per week with about every third one linking out to something. Have yet to have any issues with it.
  
  Just be sure to track the links you post so you can see what works and what doesn't. This will change regularly so you'll have to check your tracking often.
  
  Comedy usually gets it every time. A simple one liner such as:
  
  I was standing in the park wondering why the ball got bigger as it got closer. Then it hit me.
  
  ...will almost always start a conversation (even if it is a little strange).
  
  As with anything online...
  
  Build your credibility. Don't just try to sell-sell-sell cause it doesn't work. And forget all the automation stuff. just post daily and your followers will grow on a nice natural scale.

Twitter is a social networking site just like this one. So don`t try and promote all the time , just like Fred said above.

It can be a good additional source to send traffic to your product or whatever your trying to sell .

You can also promote offline through your mobile if you have a eureka moment and are not near a computer.

It takes time to build up relationships and so forth so just keep plugging away , about 1 post a day at least and it`ll all come together.

it is all about building your brand ) Maybe you could start a great blog that offers something and then use twitter to promote it. As for me, I use a combination of Tweetlater and Humminbird to get my messages through

I suggest you do something that's fun for you to do, related to your area of expertise. For example I teach Think and Grow Rich and share quotes from Napoleon Hill, Andrew Carnegie and some of my own. People respond to that and pass them around.

Also if you're not real clear on your goals from using Twitter, make sure you become clear.

For example do you want to build a list? Get traffic to your blog? Sell your own products? Promote affiliate products?

Your answer to that question will give you a better idea how best to use Twitter.

Hi Aluth,

I had a similar question to yours when I started using Twitter.
However, how I use it is more of a manual process rather than any real automation.

I use an RSS reader to look out for trigger words from search.twitter.com and then when someone types in a specific phrase into the Twittosphere I'll get an RSS notification. Then I will get the opportunity to follow and tweet that person.

The idea I had was simple. I run a memory improvement website and a lot of traffic comes into my site about "stalagtites and stalagmites" and people want to know the difference. So I just create an RSS feed for either of those terms and when it gets mentioned on Twitter I receive notification. I then message the person saying something like:
"I see you were looking for the differences between stalagtites and stalagmites. I've created a blog post that will help you learn the difference"

And something to that effect.

Don't tweet just to hear yourself. There are interesting things to tweet about that you can get from various sources. Tweet things of interest and tweet in groups of 6 or 8 tweets several minutes apart. get known and recognized and then people will follow you

Think of the social media sites as parties to get to know people. Once they're comfortable with you, they'll look you up at your blog or hub page and that's where you can talk more about your products or services.

You don't want to be the guy at the party that walks up to a stranger and says, "Hi! Buy my stuff!"

I post quotes, articles worth reading, including my own, videos I'm interested in. I never send them to a landing page. I will notify when I post a blog.
